  • Acts 23:2 - Ananias the high priest heard this. So he ordered the men standing near Paul to hit him on the mouth.
  • Acts 23:3 - Then Paul said to him, “You pretender! God will hit you! You sit there and judge me by the law. But you yourself broke the law when you commanded them to hit me!”
  • Jeremiah 20:1 - Pashhur the priest was the official in charge of the Lord’s temple. He was the son of Immer. Pashhur heard Jeremiah prophesying that Jerusalem would be destroyed.

  • 2 Chronicles 16:10 - Asa was angry with the prophet because of what he had said. In fact, he was so angry he put him in prison. At the same time, Asa treated some of his own people very badly.
  • Genesis 39:20 - So he put Joseph in prison. It was the place where the king’s prisoners were kept. While Joseph was there in the prison,
  • 2 Chronicles 18:26 - Tell them, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in prison. Don’t give him anything but bread and water until I return safely.” ’ ”

  • Matthew 21:35 - “But the renters grabbed his slaves. They beat one of them. They killed another. They threw stones at the third to kill him.
  • Jeremiah 26:16 - Then the officials and all the people spoke to the priests and prophets. They said, “This man shouldn’t be sentenced to death! He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”
  • Jeremiah 38:26 - Then tell them, ‘I was begging the king not to send me back to Jonathan’s house. I don’t want to die there.’ ”
