Ezra 4:7 - During the time of King Artaxerxes of Persia, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel and the rest of his colleagues wrote to King Artaxerxes. The letter was written in Aramaic and translated.
Ezra 4:8 - Rehum the chief deputy and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter to King Artaxerxes concerning Jerusalem as follows:
Ezra 4:9 - From Rehum the chief deputy, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their colleagues — the judges and magistrates from Tripolis, Persia, Erech, Babylon, Susa (that is, the people of Elam),
Ezra 4:10 - and the rest of the peoples whom the great and illustrious Ashurbanipal deported and settled in the cities of Samaria and the region west of the Euphrates River.
Ezra 4:11 - This is the text of the letter they sent to him: To King Artaxerxes from your servants, the men from the region west of the Euphrates River:
Ezra 4:12 - Let it be known to the king that the Jews who came from you have returned to us at Jerusalem. They are rebuilding that rebellious and evil city, finishing its walls, and repairing its foundations.
Ezra 4:13 - Let it now be known to the king that if that city is rebuilt and its walls are finished, they will not pay tribute, duty, or land tax, and the royal revenue will suffer.
Ezra 4:14 - Since we have taken an oath of loyalty to the king, and it is not right for us to witness his dishonor, we have sent to inform the king
Ezra 4:15 - that a search should be made in your predecessors’ record books. In these record books you will discover and verify that the city is a rebellious city, harmful to kings and provinces. There have been revolts in it since ancient times. That is why this city was destroyed.
Ezra 4:16 - We advise the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls are finished, you will not have any possession west of the Euphrates.
2 Kings 10:1 - Since Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria, Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to the guardians of Ahab’s sons, saying:
2 Kings 10:2 - Your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots, horses, a fortified city, and weaponry, so when this letter arrives
2 Kings 10:3 - select the most qualified of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.
2 Kings 10:4 - However, they were terrified and reasoned, “Look, two kings couldn’t stand against him; how can we?”
2 Kings 10:5 - So the overseer of the palace, the overseer of the city, the elders, and the guardians sent a message to Jehu: “We are your servants, and we will do whatever you tell us. We will not make anyone king. Do whatever you think is right.”
2 Kings 10:6 - Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying: If you are on my side, and if you will obey me, bring me the heads of your master’s sons at this time tomorrow at Jezreel. All seventy of the king’s sons were being cared for by the city’s prominent men.
2 Kings 10:7 - When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered all seventy, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.
2 Kings 25:18 - The captain of the guards also took away Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest of the second rank, and the three doorkeepers.
2 Kings 25:19 - From the city he took a court official who had been appointed over the warriors; five trusted royal aides found in the city; the secretary of the commander of the army, who enlisted the people of the land for military duty; and sixty men from the common people who were found within the city.
2 Kings 25:20 - Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
2 Kings 25:21 - The king of Babylon put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah went into exile from its land.
2 Chronicles 32:17 - He also wrote letters to mock the Lord, the God of Israel, saying against him: Just like the national gods of the lands that did not rescue their people from my power, so Hezekiah’s God will not rescue his people from my power.
Nehemiah 6:19 - These nobles kept mentioning Tobiah’s good deeds to me, and they reported my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to intimidate me.
Jeremiah 21:1 - This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord when King Zedekiah sent Pashhur son of Malchijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to Jeremiah, asking,
Jeremiah 21:2 - “Inquire of the Lord on our behalf, since King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is making war against us. Perhaps the Lord will perform for us something like all his past wondrous works so that Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”
Nehemiah 6:5 - Sanballat sent me this same message a fifth time by his aide, who had an open letter in his hand.
2 Kings 19:14 - Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers’ hands, read it, then went up to the Lord’s temple, and spread it out before the Lord.

Jeremiah 37:3 - Nevertheless, King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, requesting, “Please pray to the Lord our God on our behalf!”
Jeremiah 29:29 - The priest Zephaniah read this letter in the hearing of the prophet Jeremiah.
