  • Amos 9:8 - Look, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, and I will obliterate it from the face of the earth. However, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob  — this is the Lord’s declaration —
  • Amos 9:9 - for I am about to give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations, as one shakes a sieve, but not a pebble will fall to the ground.
  • Hosea 8:8 - Israel is swallowed up! Now they are among the nations like discarded pottery.
  • Amos 7:17 - Therefore, this is what the Lord says: Your wife will be a prostitute in the city, your sons and daughters will fall by the sword, and your land will be divided up with a measuring line. You yourself will die on pagan soil, and Israel will certainly go into exile from its homeland.

  • 2 Kings 17:6 - In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria. He deported the Israelites to Assyria and settled them in Halah, along the Habor (Gozan’s river), and in the cities of the Medes.
  • 2 Kings 17:7 - This disaster happened because the people of Israel sinned against the Lord their God who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt and because they worshiped other gods.
  • 2 Kings 17:8 - They lived according to the customs of the nations that the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites and according to what the kings of Israel did.
  • 2 Kings 17:9 - The Israelites secretly did things against the Lord their God that were not right. They built high places in all their towns from watchtower to fortified city.
  • 2 Kings 17:10 - They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
  • 2 Kings 17:11 - They burned incense there on all the high places just like the nations that the Lord had driven out before them had done. They did evil things, angering the Lord.
  • 2 Kings 17:12 - They served idols, although the Lord had told them, “You must not do this.”
  • 2 Kings 17:13 - Still, the Lord warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commands and statutes according to the whole law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through my servants the prophets.”
  • 2 Kings 17:14 - But they would not listen. Instead they became obstinate like their ancestors who did not believe the Lord their God.
  • 2 Kings 17:15 - They rejected his statutes and his covenant he had made with their ancestors and the warnings he had given them. They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves, following the surrounding nations the Lord had commanded them not to imitate.
  • 2 Kings 17:16 - They abandoned all the commands of the Lord their God. They made cast images for themselves, two calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed in worship to all the stars in the sky and served Baal.
  • 2 Kings 17:17 - They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced divination and interpreted omens. They devoted themselves to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight and angered him.
  • 2 Kings 17:18 - Therefore, the Lord was very angry with Israel, and he removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained.
  • 2 Kings 17:19 - Even Judah did not keep the commands of the Lord their God but lived according to the customs Israel had practiced.
  • 2 Kings 17:20 - So the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel, punished them, and handed them over to plunderers until he had banished them from his presence.
  • Hosea 13:3 - Therefore, they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, or like smoke from a window.
  • Amos 6:11 - For the Lord commands: The large house will be smashed to pieces, and the small house to rubble.
  • Hosea 9:11 - Ephraim’s glory will fly away like a bird: no birth, no pregnancy, no conception.
  • Hosea 9:12 - Even if they raise children, I will bereave them of each one. Yes, woe to them when I depart from them!
  • Hosea 9:13 - I have seen Ephraim like Tyre, planted in a meadow, so Ephraim will bring out his children to the executioner.
  • Hosea 9:14 - Give them, Lord — What should you give? Give them a womb that miscarries and breasts that are dry!
  • Hosea 9:15 - All their evil appears at Gilgal, for there I began to hate them. I will drive them from my house because of their evil, wicked actions. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious.
  • Hosea 9:16 - Ephraim is struck down; their roots are withered; they cannot bear fruit. Even if they bear children, I will kill the precious offspring of their wombs.
  • Hosea 9:17 - My God will reject them because they have not listened to him; they will become wanderers among the nations.
  • Hosea 5:12 - So I am like rot to Ephraim and like decay to the house of Judah.
  • Hosea 5:13 - When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent a delegation to the great king. But he cannot cure you or heal your wound.

  • Hosea 1:6 - She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter, and the Lord said to him: Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have compassion on the house of Israel. I will certainly take them away.
  • Hosea 1:9 - Then the Lord said: Name him Lo-ammi, for you are not my people, and I will not be your God.
  • Hosea 1:4 - Then the Lord said to him: Name him Jezreel, for in a little while I will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.
  • Amos 2:14 - Escape will fail the swift, the strong one will not maintain his strength, and the warrior will not save his life.
  • Amos 2:15 - The archer will not stand his ground, the one who is swift of foot will not save himself, and the one riding a horse will not save his life.
  • Amos 2:16 - Even the most courageous of the warriors will flee naked on that day  — this is the Lord’s declaration.
  • Revelation 18:8 - For this reason her plagues will come in just one day — death and grief and famine. She will be burned up with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is mighty.
  • Isaiah 19:15 - No head or tail, palm or reed, will be able to do anything for Egypt.
