  • Zechariah 5:3 - And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.
  • Ezekiel 22:2 - “Son of man, will you judge her? Will you judge this city of bloodshed? Then confront her with all her detestable practices
  • Ezekiel 22:3 - and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You city that brings on herself doom by shedding blood in her midst and defiles herself by making idols,
  • Ezekiel 22:4 - you have become guilty because of the blood you have shed and have become defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close, and the end of your years has come. Therefore I will make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all the countries.

  • Ezekiel 22:6 - “ ‘See how each of the princes of Israel who are in you uses his power to shed blood.
  • Ezekiel 22:7 - In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the foreigner and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.
  • Ezekiel 22:8 - You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.
  • Ezekiel 22:9 - In you are slanderers who are bent on shedding blood; in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines and commit lewd acts.
  • Ezekiel 22:10 - In you are those who dishonor their father’s bed; in you are those who violate women during their period, when they are ceremonially unclean.
  • Ezekiel 22:11 - In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor’s wife, another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law, and another violates his sister, his own father’s daughter.
  • Ezekiel 22:12 - In you are people who accept bribes to shed blood; you take interest and make a profit from the poor. You extort unjust gain from your neighbors. And you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign Lord.
  • Ezekiel 22:13 - “ ‘I will surely strike my hands together at the unjust gain you have made and at the blood you have shed in your midst.
  • Acts 7:52 - Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him—

  • Isaiah 59:6 - Their cobwebs are useless for clothing; they cannot cover themselves with what they make. Their deeds are evil deeds, and acts of violence are in their hands.
  • Isaiah 59:7 - Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.
  • Isaiah 59:8 - The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks along them will know peace.
  • Jeremiah 9:2 - Oh, that I had in the desert a lodging place for travelers, so that I might leave my people and go away from them; for they are all adulterers, a crowd of unfaithful people.
  • Jeremiah 9:3 - “They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 9:4 - “Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer.
  • Jeremiah 9:5 - Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning.
  • Jeremiah 9:6 - You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 9:7 - Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: “See, I will refine and test them, for what else can I do because of the sin of my people?
  • Jeremiah 9:8 - Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully. With their mouths they all speak cordially to their neighbors, but in their hearts they set traps for them.
  • Ezekiel 22:25 - There is a conspiracy of her princes within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her.
  • Ezekiel 22:26 - Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
  • Ezekiel 22:27 - Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain.
  • Ezekiel 22:28 - Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken.
  • Ezekiel 22:29 - The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.
  • Ezekiel 22:30 - “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.
  • Isaiah 59:12 - For our offenses are many in your sight, and our sins testify against us. Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities:
  • Isaiah 59:13 - rebellion and treachery against the Lord, turning our backs on our God, inciting revolt and oppression, uttering lies our hearts have conceived.
  • Isaiah 59:14 - So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.
  • Isaiah 59:15 - Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.
  • Jeremiah 5:1 - “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.
  • Jeremiah 5:2 - Although they say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives,’ still they are swearing falsely.”
  • Micah 3:2 - you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones;
  • Jeremiah 23:10 - The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.
  • Jeremiah 23:11 - “Both prophet and priest are godless; even in my temple I find their wickedness,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 23:12 - “Therefore their path will become slippery; they will be banished to darkness and there they will fall. I will bring disaster on them in the year they are punished,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 23:13 - “Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.
  • Jeremiah 23:14 - And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that not one of them turns from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”
  • Matthew 23:35 - And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
  • Zephaniah 3:1 - Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled!

  • Hosea 10:4 - They make many promises, take false oaths and make agreements; therefore lawsuits spring up like poisonous weeds in a plowed field.
  • Lamentations 4:13 - But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous.
  • Micah 2:1 - Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.
  • Micah 2:2 - They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.
  • Micah 2:3 - Therefore, the Lord says: “I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:15 - who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone
  • Isaiah 24:5 - The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.
  • Jeremiah 6:7 - As a well pours out its water, so she pours out her wickedness. Violence and destruction resound in her; her sickness and wounds are ever before me.

  • Micah 7:2 - The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains. Everyone lies in wait to shed blood; they hunt each other with nets.
  • Jeremiah 5:26 - “Among my people are the wicked who lie in wait like men who snare birds and like those who set traps to catch people.
  • Jeremiah 5:27 - Like cages full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; they have become rich and powerful
  • Jeremiah 7:6 - if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,
  • Jeremiah 7:7 - then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.
  • Jeremiah 7:8 - But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
  • Jeremiah 7:9 - “ ‘Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,
  • Jeremiah 7:10 - and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?
  • Hosea 6:9 - As marauders lie in ambush for a victim, so do bands of priests; they murder on the road to Shechem, carrying out their wicked schemes.
