  • Hosea 8:4 - They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval. With their silver and gold they make idols for themselves to their own destruction.
  • Hosea 13:6 - When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.
  • Hosea 12:8 - Ephraim boasts, “I am very rich; I have become wealthy. With all my wealth they will not find in me any iniquity or sin.”

  • 1 Kings 14:23 - They also set up for themselves high places, sacred stones and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every spreading tree.
  • Ezekiel 15:1 - The word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 15:2 - “Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?
  • Ezekiel 15:3 - Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?
  • Ezekiel 15:4 - And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?
  • Ezekiel 15:5 - If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?
  • Jeremiah 2:28 - Where then are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you, Judah, have as many gods as you have towns.
  • Hosea 12:11 - Is Gilead wicked? Its people are worthless! Do they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal? Their altars will be like piles of stones on a plowed field.
  • Isaiah 5:1 - I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.
  • Isaiah 5:2 - He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.
  • Isaiah 5:3 - “Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.
  • Isaiah 5:4 - What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad?
  • Isaiah 5:5 - Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled.
  • Isaiah 5:6 - I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it.”
  • Isaiah 5:7 - The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.
  • Hosea 8:11 - “Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings, these have become altars for sinning.
