The Message - For as long, then, as that promise of resting in him pulls us on to God’s goal for us, we need to be careful that we’re not disqualified. We received the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but the promises didn’t do them a bit of good because they didn’t receive the promises with faith. If we believe, though, we’ll experience that state of resting. But not if we don’t have faith. Remember that God said, Exasperated, I vowed, “They’ll never get where they’re going, never be able to sit down and rest.”

Hebrews 2:3 - So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?
Romans 3:3 - True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful?
Romans 3:4 - Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”
Hebrews 13:7 - Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.
Hebrews 4:3 - For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.
Hebrews 4:4 - We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
Hebrews 4:5 - But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.”
2 Timothy 2:13 - If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
Proverbs 28:14 - Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.
Hebrews 4:11 - So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
Hebrews 4:9 - So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.
Hebrews 12:15 - Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
