  • Hebrews 10:14 - By that one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
  • Hebrews 11:36 - Some were made fun of and even whipped. Some were held by chains. Some were put in prison.
  • Hebrews 10:33 - Sometimes people spoke badly about you in front of others. Sometimes you were treated badly. At other times you stood side by side with people being treated like this.
  • Isaiah 53:10 - The Lord says, “It was my plan to crush him and cause him to suffer. I made his life an offering to pay for sin. But he will see all his children after him. In fact, he will continue to live. My plan will be brought about through him.
  • Isaiah 53:11 - After he has suffered, he will see the light of life. And he will be satisfied. My godly servant will make many people godly because of what he will accomplish. He will be punished for their sins.
  • Isaiah 53:12 - So I will give him a place of honor among those who are great. He will be rewarded just like others who win the battle. That’s because he was willing to give his life as a sacrifice. He was counted among those who had committed crimes. He took the sins of many people on himself. And he gave his life for those who had done what is wrong.”
  • Psalm 110:1 - The Lord says to my lord, “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your control.”
  • Hebrews 1:13 - God never said to an angel, “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your control.” ( Psalm 110:1 )
  • Hebrews 2:7 - You made them a little lower than the angels. You placed on them a crown of glory and honor.
  • Hebrews 2:8 - You have put everything under their control.” ( Psalm 8:4–6 ) So God has put everything under his Son. Everything is under his control. We do not now see everything under his control.
  • Hebrews 2:9 - But we do see Jesus already given a crown of glory and honor. He was made lower than the angels for a little while. He suffered death. By the grace of God, he tasted death for everyone. That is why he was given his crown.
  • Hebrews 2:10 - God has made everything. He is now bringing his many sons and daughters to share in his glory. It is only right that Jesus is the one to lead them into their salvation. That’s because God made him perfect by his sufferings.
  • Isaiah 49:6 - Here is what the Lord says to me. “It is not enough for you as my servant to bring the tribes of Jacob back to their land. It is not enough for you to bring back the people of Israel I have kept alive. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles. Then you will make it possible for the whole world to be saved.”
  • Isaiah 49:7 - The Lord sets his people free. He is the Holy One of Israel. He speaks to his servant, who is looked down on and hated by the nations. He speaks to the servant of rulers. He says to him, “Kings will see you and stand up to honor you. Princes will see you and bow down to show you their respect. I am the Lord. I am faithful. I am the Holy One of Israel. I have chosen you.”
  • Acts 2:36 - “So be sure of this, all you people of Israel. You nailed Jesus to the cross. But God has made him both Lord and Messiah.”
  • Revelation 1:17 - When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. Then he put his right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:7 - There is no gift of the Holy Spirit that you don’t have. You are full of hope as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to come again.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:8 - God will also keep you strong in faith to the very end. Then you will be without blame on the day our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
  • Zechariah 12:10 - “I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on David’s family line. I will also send it on those who live in Jerusalem. They will look to me. I am the one they have pierced. They will mourn over me as someone mourns over an only child who has died. They will be full of sorrow over me. Their sorrow will be just like someone’s sorrow over an oldest son.
  • Matthew 20:28 - Be like the Son of Man. He did not come to be served. Instead, he came to serve others. He came to give his life as the price for setting many people free.”
  • Isaiah 50:6 - I let my enemies beat me on my bare back. I let them pull the hair out of my beard. I didn’t turn my face away when they made fun of me and spit on me.
  • Isaiah 50:7 - The Lord and King helps me. He won’t let me be dishonored. So I’ve made up my mind to keep on serving him. I know he won’t let me be put to shame.
  • Mark 9:12 - Jesus replied, “That’s right. Elijah does come first. He makes all things new again. So why is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and not be accepted?
  • John 8:56 - Your father Abraham was filled with joy at the thought of seeing my day. He saw it and was glad.”
  • Isaiah 8:17 - I will wait for the Lord. He is turning his face away from Jacob’s people. I will put my trust in him.
  • 1 Peter 1:11 - They wanted to find out when and how this salvation would come. The Spirit of Christ in them was telling them about the sufferings of the Messiah. These were his sufferings that were going to come. The Spirit of Christ was also telling them about the glory that would follow.

  • Acts 2:25 - David spoke about him. He said, “ ‘I know that the Lord is always with me. Because he is at my right hand, I will always be secure.

  • Matthew 26:67 - Then they spit in his face. They hit him with their fists. Others slapped him.

  • Luke 23:38 - A written sign had been placed above him. It read, this is the king of the jews.
  • Luke 23:39 - One of the criminals hanging there made fun of Jesus. He said, “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself! Save us!”
  • Acts 5:41 - The apostles were full of joy as they left the Sanhedrin. They considered it an honor to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.
  • Psalm 138:8 - Lord, you will show that I was right to trust you. Lord, your faithful love continues forever. You have done so much for us, so don’t stop now.
  • Matthew 16:21 - From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he must go to Jerusalem. There he must suffer many things from the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law. He must be killed and on the third day rise to life again.
  • Mark 14:36 - “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup of suffering away from me. But let what you want be done, not what I want.”
  • John 17:1 - After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed. He said, “Father, the time has come. Bring glory to your Son. Then your Son will bring glory to you.
  • John 17:2 - You gave him authority over all people. He gives eternal life to all those you have given him.
  • John 17:3 - And what is eternal life? It is knowing you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
  • John 17:4 - I have brought you glory on earth. I have finished the work you gave me to do.
  • John 12:24 - What I’m about to tell you is true. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only one seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
  • Luke 23:11 - Herod and his soldiers laughed at him and made fun of him. They dressed him in a beautiful robe. Then they sent him back to Pilate.
  • Mark 9:24 - Right away the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe! Help me overcome my unbelief!”
  • Isaiah 31:1 - How terrible it will be for those who go down to Egypt for help! How terrible for those who depend on horses! They trust in how many chariots they have. They trust in how strong their horsemen are. But they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel. They don’t ask the Lord for his help.
  • John 12:32 - And I am going to be lifted up from the earth. When I am, I will bring all people to myself.”
  • John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world!
  • Isaiah 53:3 - People looked down on him. They didn’t accept him. He knew all about pain and suffering. He was like someone people turn their faces away from. We looked down on him. We didn’t have any respect for him.
  • John 13:31 - After Judas was gone, Jesus spoke. He said, “Now the Son of Man receives glory. And he brings glory to God.
  • John 13:32 - If the Son brings glory to God, God himself will bring glory to the Son. God will do it at once.
  • 1 Peter 4:14 - Suppose people say bad things about you because you believe in Christ. Then you are blessed, because God’s Spirit rests on you. He is the Spirit of glory.
  • 1 Peter 4:15 - If you suffer, it shouldn’t be because you are a murderer. It shouldn’t be because you are a thief or someone who does evil things. It shouldn’t be because you interfere with other people’s business.
  • 1 Peter 4:16 - But suppose you suffer for being a Christian. Then don’t be ashamed. Instead, praise God because you are known by the name of Christ.
  • Jude 1:21 - And by doing these things, remain in God’s love as you wait. You are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.
  • 2 Timothy 4:8 - Now there is a crown waiting for me. It is given to those who are right with God. The Lord, who judges fairly, will give it to me on the day he returns. He will not give it only to me. He will also give it to all those who are longing for him to return.
  • Hebrews 8:1 - Here is the main point of what we are saying. We have a high priest like that. He sat down at the right hand of the throne of the King, the Majesty in heaven.
  • Hebrews 13:13 - So let us go to him outside the camp. Let us be willing to suffer the shame he suffered.

  • 1 Peter 3:22 - He has gone into heaven. He is at God’s right hand. Angels, authorities and powers are under his control.
  • Philippians 1:6 - God began a good work in you. And I am sure that he will carry it on until it is completed. That will be on the day Christ Jesus returns.
  • Acts 5:31 - Now Jesus is Prince and Savior. God has proved this by giving Jesus a place of honor with him. He did it to turn Israel away from their sins and forgive them.
  • Philippians 2:8 - He appeared as a man. He was humble and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to his death. Even worse, he died on a cross!
  • Philippians 2:9 - So God lifted him up to the highest place. God gave him the name that is above every name.
  • Philippians 2:10 - When the name of Jesus is spoken, everyone will kneel down to worship him. Everyone in heaven and on earth and under the earth will kneel down to worship him.
  • Philippians 2:11 - Everyone’s mouth will say that Jesus Christ is Lord. And God the Father will receive the glory.
  • John 6:40 - My Father wants all who look to the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. I will raise them up on the last day.”
  • Hebrews 9:28 - In the same way, Christ was offered up once. He took away the sins of many people. He will also come a second time. At that time he will not suffer for sin. Instead, he will come to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
  • Ephesians 5:2 - Lead a life of love, just as Christ did. He loved us. He gave himself up for us. He was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.
  • Titus 2:13 - That’s how we should live as we wait for the blessed hope God has given us. We are waiting for Jesus Christ to appear in his glory. He is our great God and Savior.
  • Titus 2:14 - He gave himself for us. By doing that, he set us free from all evil. He wanted to make us pure. He wanted us to be his very own people. He wanted us to desire to do what is good.
  • 1 Peter 2:23 - People shouted at him and made fun of him. But he didn’t do the same thing back to them. When he suffered, he didn’t say he would make them suffer. Instead, he trusted in the God who judges fairly.
  • 1 Peter 2:24 - “He himself carried our sins” in his body on the cross. ( Isaiah 53:5 ) He did it so that we would die as far as sins are concerned. Then we would lead godly lives. “His wounds have healed you.” ( Isaiah 53:5 )
  • Hebrews 1:3 - The Son is the shining brightness of God’s glory. He is the exact likeness of God’s being. He uses his powerful word to hold all things together. He provided the way for people to be made pure from sin. Then he sat down at the right hand of the King, the Majesty in heaven.
  • Micah 7:7 - But I will look to the Lord. I’ll put my trust in God my Savior. He will hear me.
  • 1 Peter 3:18 - Christ also suffered once for sins. The one who did what is right suffered for those who don’t do right. He suffered to bring you to God. His body was put to death. But the Holy Spirit brought him back to life.
