  • Ezra 9:5 - At the evening offering, I got up from my time of humiliation, with my tunic and robe torn. Then I fell on my knees and spread out my hands to the Lord my God.
  • Ezra 10:6 - Ezra then went from the house of God and walked to the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, where he spent the night. He did not eat food or drink water, because he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.
  • Nehemiah 1:4 - When I heard these words, I sat down and wept. I mourned for a number of days, fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.
  • Nehemiah 1:5 - I said, Lord, the God of the heavens, the great and awe-inspiring God who keeps his gracious covenant with those who love him and keep his commands,
  • Nehemiah 1:6 - let your eyes be open and your ears be attentive to hear your servant’s prayer that I now pray to you day and night for your servants, the Israelites. I confess the sins we have committed against you. Both I and my father’s family have sinned.
  • Nehemiah 1:7 - We have acted corruptly toward you and have not kept the commands, statutes, and ordinances you gave your servant Moses.
  • Nehemiah 1:8 - Please remember what you commanded your servant Moses: “If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples.
  • Nehemiah 1:9 - But if you return to me and carefully observe my commands, even though your exiles were banished to the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I chose to have my name dwell.”
  • Nehemiah 1:10 - They are your servants and your people. You redeemed them by your great power and strong hand.
  • Nehemiah 1:11 - Please, Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to that of your servants who delight to revere your name. Give your servant success today, and grant him compassion in the presence of this man. At the time, I was the king’s cupbearer.
  • James 5:16 - Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
  • James 5:17 - Elijah was a human being as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land.
  • James 5:18 - Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit.
  • Jeremiah 29:10 - For this is what the Lord says: “When seventy years for Babylon are complete, I will attend to you and will confirm my promise concerning you to restore you to this place.
  • Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you”  — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
  • Jeremiah 29:12 - You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
  • Jeremiah 29:13 - You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
  • Jeremiah 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.
