  • Daniel 3:18 - But we want you to know this, Your Majesty. Even if we knew that our God wouldn’t save us, we still wouldn’t serve your gods. We wouldn’t worship the gold statue you set up.”
  • Daniel 3:19 - Then Nebuchadnezzar was very angry with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The look on his face changed. And he ordered that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual.
  • Daniel 3:20 - He also gave some of the strongest soldiers in his army a command. He ordered them to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Then he told his men to throw them into the blazing furnace.
  • Daniel 3:21 - So they were tied up. Then they were thrown into the furnace. They were wearing their robes, pants, turbans and other clothes.
  • Daniel 3:22 - The king’s command was carried out quickly. The furnace was so hot that its flames killed the soldiers who threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into it.
  • Daniel 3:23 - So the three men were firmly tied up. And they fell into the blazing furnace.
  • Daniel 3:24 - Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet. He was so amazed he asked his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men? Didn’t we throw three men into the fire?” They replied, “Yes, we did, Your Majesty.”
  • Daniel 3:25 - The king said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire. They aren’t tied up. And the fire hasn’t even harmed them. The fourth man looks like a son of the gods.”
  • Daniel 3:26 - Then the king approached the opening of the blazing furnace. He shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, come out! You who serve the Most High God, come here!” So they came out of the fire.
  • Daniel 3:27 - The royal rulers, high officials, governors and advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire hadn’t harmed their bodies. Not one hair on their heads was burned. Their robes weren’t burned either. And they didn’t even smell like smoke.
  • Daniel 3:28 - Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “May the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be praised! He has sent his angel and saved his servants. They trusted in him. They refused to obey my command. They were willing to give up their lives. They would rather die than serve or worship any god except their own God.
  • Luke 18:28 - Peter said to him, “We have left everything we had in order to follow you!”
  • Matthew 6:1 - “Be careful not to do good deeds in front of other people. Don’t do those deeds to be seen by others. If you do, your Father in heaven will not reward you.
  • Matthew 6:2 - “When you give to needy people, do not announce it by having trumpets blown. Do not be like those who only pretend to be holy. They announce what they do in the synagogues and on the streets. They want to be honored by other people. What I’m about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward.
  • Matthew 6:3 - When you give to needy people, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
  • Matthew 6:4 - Then your giving will be done secretly. Your Father will reward you, because he sees what you do secretly.
  • John 13:37 - “Lord,” Peter asked, “why can’t I follow you now? I will give my life for you.”
  • Philippians 1:15 - It’s true that some preach about Christ because they are jealous. But others preach about Christ to help me in my work.
  • Philippians 1:16 - The last group acts out of love. They know I have been put here to be a witness for the good news.
  • Philippians 1:17 - But the others preach about Christ only to get ahead. They preach Christ for the wrong reasons. They think they can stir up trouble for me while I am being held by chains.
  • Philippians 1:18 - But what does it matter? Here is the important thing. Whether for right or wrong reasons, Christ is being preached about. That makes me very glad. And I will continue to be glad.
  • Luke 21:3 - “What I’m about to tell you is true,” Jesus said. “That poor widow has put in more than all the others.
  • Luke 21:4 - All these other people gave a lot because they are rich. But even though she is poor, she put in everything. She had nothing left to live on.”
  • John 12:43 - They loved praise from people more than praise from God.
  • 1 Timothy 4:8 - Training the body has some value. But being godly has value in every way. It promises help for the life you are now living and the life to come.
  • Matthew 7:22 - Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord! Lord! Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we drive out demons in your name? Didn’t we do many miracles in your name?’
  • Matthew 7:23 - Then I will tell them clearly, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who do evil!’
  • Luke 18:22 - When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”
  • Jeremiah 7:8 - But look! You are trusting in worthless lies.
  • Acts 21:13 - He asked, “Why are you crying? Why are you breaking my heart? I’m ready to be put in prison. In fact, I’m ready to die in Jerusalem for the Lord Jesus.”
  • Luke 19:8 - But Zacchaeus stood up. He said, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to those who are poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay it back. I will pay back four times the amount I took.”
  • John 6:63 - The Holy Spirit gives life. The body means nothing at all. The words I have spoken to you are full of the Spirit. They give life.
  • Hebrews 13:9 - Don’t let all kinds of strange teachings lead you astray. It is good that God’s grace makes our hearts strong. Don’t try to grow strong by eating foods that the law requires. They have no value for the people who eat them.
  • John 15:13 - No one has greater love than the one who gives their life for their friends.
  • Galatians 5:26 - Let us not become proud. Let us not make each other angry. Let us not want what belongs to others.
  • Matthew 23:5 - “Everything they do is done for others to see. On their foreheads and arms they wear little boxes that hold Scripture verses. They make the boxes very wide. And they make the tassels on their coats very long.
  • Philippians 1:20 - I completely expect and hope that I won’t be ashamed in any way. I’m sure I will be brave enough. Now as always Christ will receive glory because of what happens to me. He will receive glory whether I live or die.
  • Philippians 1:21 - For me, life finds all its meaning in Christ. Death also has its benefits.
  • James 2:14 - Suppose a person claims to have faith but doesn’t act on their faith. My brothers and sisters, can this kind of faith save them?
  • James 2:15 - Suppose a brother or a sister has no clothes or food.
  • James 2:16 - Suppose one of you says to them, “Go. I hope everything turns out fine for you. Keep warm. Eat well.” And suppose you do nothing about what they really need. Then what good have you done?
  • James 2:17 - It is the same with faith. If it doesn’t cause us to do something, it’s dead.
