  • 1 Chronicles 15:18 - Along with them they chose their relatives who were next in rank. Their names were Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They guarded the gates.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:19 - Heman, Asaph and Ethan played the bronze cymbals.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:20 - Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah and Benaiah played the lyres according to alamoth.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:21 - Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah played the harps according to sheminith.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:22 - Kenaniah was the leader of the Levites. He was in charge of the singing because he was good at it.
  • Nehemiah 11:17 - There was also Mattaniah. He led in prayer and in giving thanks. He was the son of Mika. Mika was the son of Zabdi. Zabdi was the son of Asaph. There was also Bakbukiah. He was second among those who helped Mattaniah. And there was Abda. He was the son of Shammua. Shammua was the son of Galal. Galal was the son of Jeduthun.
  • Psalm 134:1 - All you who serve the Lord, praise the Lord. All you who serve at night in the house of the Lord, praise him.
  • Psalm 134:2 - Lift up your hands in the temple and praise the Lord.
  • Ezra 7:24 - Here is something else I want you to know. You have no authority to collect taxes, gifts or fees from these people. You may not collect them from the priests, Levites or musicians. You may not collect them from those who guard the temple gates. You may not collect them from the temple servants. And you may not collect them from other workers at the house of God in Jerusalem.
  • 1 Chronicles 16:4 - He appointed some of the Levites to serve in front of the ark of the Lord. David wanted them to give honor, thanks and praise to the Lord. He is the God of Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 16:5 - Asaph was the leader of those Levites. Zechariah was next in rank. Then came Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They played the lyres and harps. Asaph played the cymbals.
  • 1 Chronicles 16:6 - Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, blew the trumpets. They blew them at regular times in front of the ark of the covenant of God.
  • Nehemiah 11:22 - Uzzi was the chief officer of the Levites in Jerusalem. He was the son of Bani. Bani was the son of Hashabiah. Hashabiah was the son of Mattaniah. Mattaniah was the son of Mika. Uzzi was one of the members of Asaph’s family line. They were musicians in charge of the worship services at the house of God.
  • Nehemiah 11:23 - The musicians received their orders from the Persian king. He told them what they should do every day.
  • Psalm 135:1 - Praise the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord. You who serve the Lord, praise him.
  • Psalm 135:2 - You who serve in the house of the Lord, praise him. You who serve in the courtyards of the temple of our God, praise him.
  • Psalm 135:3 - Praise the Lord, because he is good. Sing praise to his name, because that is pleasant.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:31 - Here are the Levites David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord. He did it after the ark was placed there.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:32 - The men used their music to serve in front of the holy tent, the tent of meeting. They served there until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They did their work according to the rules they had been given.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:33 - Here are the men who served. The list also includes their sons. The family line of Kohath included Heman. He led the music. He was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Samuel.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:1 - David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun. They set them apart to serve the Lord by prophesying while harps, lyres and cymbals were being played. Here is the list of the men who served in that way.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:2 - From the sons of Asaph came Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph. He prophesied under the king’s direction.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:3 - From the sons of Jeduthun came Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah. The total number was six. They were under the direction of their father Jeduthun. He prophesied while playing the harp. He used it to thank and praise the Lord.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:4 - From the sons of Heman came Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:5 - All of them were sons of the king’s prophet Heman. They were given to Heman to bring him honor. That’s what God had promised. God gave him 14 sons and three daughters.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:6 - All of them were under the direction of their father. They played music for the Lord’s temple. They served at the house of God by playing cymbals, lyres and harps. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the king’s direction.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:7 - All of them were trained and skilled in playing music for the Lord. Their total number was 288. That included their relatives.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:8 - Young and old alike cast lots for their duties. That was true for students as well as teachers.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:9 - The 1st lot chosen was for Asaph. It was for Joseph and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12. The 2nd lot was for Gedaliah and his relatives and sons. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:10 - The 3rd was for Zakkur and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:11 - The 4th was for Izri and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:12 - The 5th was for Nethaniah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:13 - The 6th was for Bukkiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:14 - The 7th was for Jesarelah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:15 - The 8th was for Jeshaiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:16 - The 9th was for Mattaniah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:17 - The 10th was for Shimei and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:18 - The 11th was for Azarel and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:19 - The 12th was for Hashabiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:20 - The 13th was for Shubael and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:21 - The 14th was for Mattithiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:22 - The 15th was for Jerimoth and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:23 - The 16th was for Hananiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:24 - The 17th was for Joshbekashah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:25 - The 18th was for Hanani and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:26 - The 19th was for Mallothi and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:27 - The 20th was for Eliathah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:28 - The 21st was for Hothir and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:29 - The 22nd was for Giddalti and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:30 - The 23rd was for Mahazioth and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
  • 1 Chronicles 25:31 - The 24th was for Romamti-Ezer and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.
