My Soul Waits for God Alone

1For God alone 62:1 See Ps. 33:20my soul 62:1 [Ps. 37:7]waits in silence;

from him comes my salvation.

262:2 Ps. 18:2He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my 62:2 See Ps. 9:9fortress; 62:2 See Ps. 10:6I shall not be greatly shaken.

3How long will all of you attack a man

to batter him,

like 62:3 [Isa. 30:13]a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

4They only plan to thrust him down from his 62:4 Job 13:11high position.

They take pleasure in falsehood.

62:4 See Ps. 28:3They bless with their mouths,

but inwardly they curse. Selah

5For God alone, O 62:5 [See ver. 1above]my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

662:6 [See ver. 2above]He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

7On God rests my 62:7 See Ps. 3:8salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, 62:7 See Ps. 14:6my refuge is God.

862:8 See Ps. 37:3Trust in him at all times, O people;

62:8 See Ps. 42:4pour out your heart before him;

God is 62:8 [See ver. 7above]a refuge for us. Selah

962:9 Ps. 39:5; [Isa. 40:17] Those of low estate are but a breath;

those of high estate 62:9 [Ps. 116:11]are a delusion;

in the balances they go up;

62:9 Ps. 39:5; [Isa. 40:17] they are together lighter than a breath.

10Put no trust in extortion;

62:10 See Prov. 1:10-19set no vain hopes on robbery;

62:10 Luke 12:15; See Ps. 49:6if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

1162:11 Job 33:14; 40:5Once God has spoken;

62:11 Job 33:14; 40:5twice have I heard this:

that 62:11 Rev. 19:1; [Ps. 59:9, 17]power belongs to God,

12and that to you, O Lord, 62:12 Ps. 86:5, 15; 103:8; Dan. 9:9belongs steadfast love.
