1The Lord is my 27:1 Isa. 60:20; Mic. 7:8; [Ps. 84:11] light and my 27:1 Ps. 118:14; Ex. 15:2; Isa. 12:2; 62:11salvation;

27:1 See Ps. 23:4whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold27:1 Or refuge of my life;

of whom shall I be afraid?

2When evildoers assail me

to 27:2 Ps. 14:4eat up my flesh,

my adversaries and foes,

it is they who stumble and fall.

327:3 Ps. 3:6Though an army encamp against me,

my heart shall not fear;

though war arise against me,

yet27:3 Or in this I will be confident.

427:4 [Ps. 26:8; 84:1, 2] One thing have I asked of the Lord,

that will I seek after:

that I may 27:4 Ps. 23:6; 65:4; [Luke 2:37] dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

in the day of trouble;

he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;

6And now my 27:6 Ps. 3:3head shall be lifted up

above my enemies all around me,

and I will offer in his tent

sacrifices with shouts of 27:6 [Num. 10:10] joy;

27:6 Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

727:7 Ps. 30:10Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;

be gracious to me and answer me!

8You have said, 27:8 Ps. 24:6; 105:4“Seek27:8 The command (seek) is addressed to more than one person my face.”

My heart says to you,

“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”27:8 The meaning of the Hebrew verse is uncertain

927:9 Ps. 69:17; 102:2; 143:7Hide not your face from me.

Turn not your servant away in anger,

O you who have been my help.

Cast me not off; forsake me not,

27:9 See Ps. 24:5O God of my salvation!

10For 27:10 [Isa. 49:15; 63:16] my father and my mother have forsaken me,

but the Lord will 27:10 [Isa. 40:11]take me in.

1127:11 See Ps. 25:4Teach me your way, O Lord,

and lead me on 27:11 [Ps. 5:8]a level path

because of my enemies.

1227:12 Ps. 41:2Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
