10:1 See ch. 29:3A wise son makes a glad father,
10:1 ch. 17:25; 29:15but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.
210:2 [ch. 21:6; Ezek. 7:19; Luke 12:19, 20] Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
10:2 ch. 11:4, 6but righteousness delivers from death.
310:3 Ps. 34:9, 10; 37:25; [Matt. 6:33] The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,

5He who 10:5 [ch. 6:8] gathers in summer is a prudent son,

6Blessings are on the head of the righteous,

the poverty of the poor is their ruin.
16The wage of the righteous leads 10:16 ch. 11:19; 19:23to life,
the gain of the wicked to sin.
17Whoever heeds instruction is on 10:17 [ch. 6:23]the path to life,
but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.
18The one who conceals hatred has lying lips,
and whoever utters slander is a fool.
1910:19 [Matt. 12:36, 37] When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
10:19 ch. 17:27; [James 3:2]but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
20The tongue of the righteous is 10:20 ch. 8:19; 16:16choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21The lips of the righteous feed many,
but fools die for 10:21 [Hos. 4:6]lack of sense.

and he adds no sorrow with it.10:22 Or and toil adds nothing to it
23Doing wrong is 10:23 ch. 2:14; 15:21like a joke to a fool,
but 10:23 [ch. 8:30]wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.
