此乃歡樂之邑、安居無慮、其心自謂惟我而已、我外無他、今奚荒寂、成為獸臥之所、凡經過者、必搖手而嗤笑之、

This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself,“ I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.

Nineveh was a carefree city. It lived in safety. It said to itself,“ I am the one! No one is greater than I am.” But it has been destroyed. Wild animals make their home there. All those who pass by laugh and shake their fists at it.

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

This is the boisterous city, once so secure.“ I am the greatest!” it boasted.“ No other city can compare with me!” But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a haven for wild animals. Everyone passing by will laugh in derision and shake a defiant fist.

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

This is the presumptuous city That dwells securely, Who says in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, A resting place for animals! Everyone who passes by her will hiss And wave his hand in contempt.

This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart,“ I am it, and there is none besides me.” How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

This is the self-assured city that lives in security, that thinks to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her jeers and shakes his fist.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

This is how the once-proud city will end up– the city that was so secure. She thought to herself,“ I am unique! No one can compare to me!” What a heap of ruins she has become, a place where wild animals live! Everyone who passes by her taunts her and shakes his fist.

人子、當告推羅王云、主耶和華曰、爾中心驕泰、自謂可匹上帝、其邑在海中、若上帝位、爾雖自謂可匹上帝、終屬凡民、非上帝也。

爾自謂必永為主母、不深思此理、不慮後患。然爾淫佚之婦、僣稱主母、自謂無能比儗、必不夫亡子喪。吾語汝、

所受之傷、不得醫痊、凡聞斯音、必鼓其掌、蓋爾之暴虐、遐邇咸知焉。

維爾邑眾、昔則歡然以喜樂、今則譁然而鼓譟、雖無戰鬥、戈兵已被殺戮、

我必使此邑荒蕪、人發怨聲、過斯土者見此鞠凶、則驚愕欷歔不已。

維昔郇邑、居民眾多、今則不勝寂寞兮、昔為大國、今若嫠婦兮、昔也列邦為彼所制、今則為人供役、能勿悲兮。

凡過耶路撒冷者、鼓掌搖首、作怨憤之聲、曰、天下素稱華國樂土者、非此邑乎。

爾被殺之時、豈得自謂可匹上帝、爾既見殺、則屬凡民、非為上帝明矣。

四方商賈、作怨憤之聲、見爾淪亡、恐懼不勝。

過者誚之、搖首曰、

其素自榮華靡、故使之疾苦痛哭、亦若是、彼自謂女王、非嫠婦、必不痛哭、故頃刻間、災害數至、即饑饉、痛哭、死亡、火爇、蓋鞫之之上帝、乃大能之主、天下諸王、素與巴比倫行淫、專事華靡、見厥火炎炎、必哭之哀、懼害及身、遙立云巴比倫大邑、素稱鞏固、一時刑至、哀哉、天下商旅、苦無貿易、故哭之哀、所貿易者、金銀、寶石、珠璣、細布、絲縷、紫絳、染料、杜松、象牙、佳木、銅鐵白石諸器、亦有肉桂、香品、香膏、乳香、酒油、粉麥、牛羊、車馬、奴僕、向所嗜果實安在、珍奇華彩無存、不可復得、諸商旅因以富饒、懼害及身、遙立哀哭云、大邑素衣細布紫絳、飾金玉珠璣、頃刻間、富有遂至貧乏、嗚呼哀哉、各舟長舟子、與附載之人、及航海商旅遙立、見厥火炎炎、呼曰、誰能與大邑比儗乎、以塵埃蒙首、哀哭呼曰、大邑以厥珍寶、使操舟於海者富裕、頃刻間、已至貧乏、嗚呼哀哉、

主怒郇邑、愁雲慘淡、以色列雖榮光焜耀、若躋穹蒼、必下墮於地兮、雖為駐蹕之所、亦所弗惜兮。

主曰、我降災於郇山、及耶路撒冷、既畢其事、我必伐亞述王、汰其驕心、去其抑視。彼曰、我有智有能、克勝鄰邦、虜其財、得其地、惟自恃其能而為之。我擊天下、得人貨財、如覆巢取卵、雌鳥遠飛、無有哀鳴而鼓翼者。

維爾婦女、逸樂安居、今當起聽我言、

我將於所賜之地、殲滅以色列族、我所成聖之殿、為籲名之所者必毀、使以色列族為兆民作歌譏刺。凡過此有名之殿宇、必駭異、作怨憤之聲。如有詢及者曰、耶和華毀此殿、害此國也、曷故。

主耶和華曰、埃及王法老、若河中巨鱷、自謂我鑿江河、足供己用、我必罰爾、

人憤聲鼓掌、擯之遠方。

義者見此、寅畏上帝、竊哂惡人、曰、彼其之子、輕上帝之能力、恃一己之貨財、強悍作惡兮、
