這就是那素來歡躍的城，她自以為安穩而居住着，心裏想着說：『我、我以外再沒有別的。』如今怎麼竟變為荒涼，竟成了野獸的躺臥處啊！凡從那裏經過的都必摇手嗤笑她！

此乃歡樂之邑、安居無慮、其心自謂惟我而已、我外無他、今奚荒寂、成為獸臥之所、凡經過者、必搖手而嗤笑之、

此乃淫佚之邑、僭稱主母、自謂莫之與京、今變荒蕪、獸伏其間、凡過之者、必作怨憤之聲、搖首不已。

此邑素淫樂、安居無畏、心中曰、惟有我、我外無他、忽變荒蕪、獸伏之處、凡過之者、俱戲笑搖首、

This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself,“ I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.

Nineveh was a carefree city. It lived in safety. It said to itself,“ I am the one! No one is greater than I am.” But it has been destroyed. Wild animals make their home there. All those who pass by laugh and shake their fists at it.

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

This is the boisterous city, once so secure.“ I am the greatest!” it boasted.“ No other city can compare with me!” But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a haven for wild animals. Everyone passing by will laugh in derision and shake a defiant fist.

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

This is the presumptuous city That dwells securely, Who says in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, A resting place for animals! Everyone who passes by her will hiss And wave his hand in contempt.

This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart,“ I am it, and there is none besides me.” How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

This is the self-assured city that lives in security, that thinks to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her jeers and shakes his fist.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

This is how the once-proud city will end up– the city that was so secure. She thought to herself,“ I am unique! No one can compare to me!” What a heap of ruins she has become, a place where wild animals live! Everyone who passes by her taunts her and shakes his fist.

This is the joyous city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a place for animals to lie down in! Everyone who passes by her will hiss, and shake their fists.

「人子啊，你對泰爾君王說，主耶和華如此說：因你心裏高傲，說：我是神；我在海中坐神之位。你雖然居心自比神，也不過是人，並不是神！

你自己說：我必永為主母，所以你不將這事放在心上，也不思想這事的結局。你這專好宴樂、安然居住的，現在當聽這話。你心中說：惟有我，除我以外再沒有別的。我必不致寡居，也不遭喪子之事。

你的損傷無法醫治；你的傷痕極其重大。凡聽你信息的必都因此向你拍掌。你所行的惡誰沒有時常遭遇呢？

你這滿處吶喊、大有喧嘩的城，歡樂的邑啊，你中間被殺的並不是被刀殺，也不是因打仗死亡。

我必使這城令人驚駭嗤笑；凡經過的人，必因這城所遭的災驚駭嗤笑。

先前滿有人民的城，現在何竟獨坐！先前在列國中為大的，現在竟如寡婦；先前在諸省中為王后的，現在成為進貢的。

凡過路的都向你拍掌。他們向耶路撒冷城嗤笑，搖頭，說：難道人所稱為全美的，稱為全地所喜悅的，就是這城嗎？

在殺你的人面前你還能說「我是神」嗎？其實你在殺害你的人手中，不過是人，並不是神。

各國民中的客商都向你發嘶聲；你令人驚恐，不再存留於世，直到永遠。」

從那裏經過的人譏誚他，搖着頭，說：

她怎樣榮耀自己，怎樣奢華，也當叫她照樣痛苦悲哀，因她心裏說：我坐了皇后的位，並不是寡婦，決不至於悲哀。所以在一天之內，她的災殃要一齊來到，就是死亡、悲哀、饑荒。她又要被火燒盡了，因為審判她的主神大有能力。地上的君王，素來與她行淫、一同奢華的，看見燒她的煙，就必為她哭泣哀號。因怕她的痛苦，就遠遠地站着說：哀哉！哀哉！巴比倫大城，堅固的城啊，一時之間你的刑罰就來到了。地上的客商也都為她哭泣悲哀，因為沒有人再買他們的貨物了；這貨物就是金、銀、寶石、珍珠、細麻布、紫色料、綢子、朱紅色料、各樣香木、各樣象牙的器皿、各樣極寶貴的木頭，和銅、鐵、漢白玉的器皿，並肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵、麥子、牛、羊、車、馬，和奴僕、人口。巴比倫哪，你所貪愛的果子離開了你；你一切的珍饈美味和華美的物件也從你中間毀滅，決不能再見了。販賣這些貨物、藉着她發了財的客商，因怕她的痛苦，就遠遠地站着哭泣悲哀，說：哀哉！哀哉！這大城啊，素常穿着細麻、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，又用金子、寶石，和珍珠為妝飾。一時之間，這麼大的富厚就歸於無有了。凡船主和坐船往各處去的，並眾水手，連所有靠海為業的，都遠遠地站着，看見燒她的煙，就喊着說：「有何城能比這大城呢？」他們又把塵土撒在頭上，哭泣悲哀，喊着說：哀哉！哀哉！這大城啊。凡有船在海中的，都因她的珍寶成了富足！她在一時之間就成了荒場！

主何竟發怒，使黑雲遮蔽錫安城！他將以色列的華美從天扔在地上；在他發怒的日子並不記念自己的腳凳。

主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的時候，主說：「我必罰亞述王自大的心和他高傲眼目的榮耀。」因為他說：我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，我本有聰明。我挪移列國的地界，搶奪他們所積蓄的財寶；並且我像勇士，使坐寶座的降為卑。我的手搆到列國的財寶，好像人搆到鳥窩；我也得了全地，好像人拾起所棄的雀蛋。沒有動翅膀的；沒有張嘴的，也沒有鳴叫的。

安逸的婦女啊，起來聽我的聲音！無慮的女子啊，側耳聽我的言語！

我就必將以色列人從我賜給他們的地上剪除，並且我為己名所分別為聖的殿也必捨棄不顧，使以色列人在萬民中作笑談，被譏誚。這殿雖然甚高，將來經過的人必驚訝、嗤笑，說：『耶和華為何向這地和這殿如此行呢？』

說主耶和華如此說：埃及王法老啊，我與你這臥在自己河中的大魚為敵。你曾說：這河是我的，是我為自己造的。

人要向他拍掌，並要發叱聲，使他離開本處。

你必題這詩歌論巴比倫王說：欺壓人的何竟熄滅？強暴的何竟止息？耶和華折斷了惡人的杖，轄制人的圭，

義人要看見而懼怕，並要笑他，說：看哪，這就是那不以神為他力量的人，只倚仗他豐富的財物，在邪惡上堅立自己。
