此乃歡樂之邑、安居無慮、其心自謂惟我而已、我外無他、今奚荒寂、成為獸臥之所、凡經過者、必搖手而嗤笑之、

此乃淫佚之邑、僭稱主母、自謂莫之與京、今變荒蕪、獸伏其間、凡過之者、必作怨憤之聲、搖首不已。

此邑素淫樂、安居無畏、心中曰、惟有我、我外無他、忽變荒蕪、獸伏之處、凡過之者、俱戲笑搖首、

This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself,“ I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.

Nineveh was a carefree city. It lived in safety. It said to itself,“ I am the one! No one is greater than I am.” But it has been destroyed. Wild animals make their home there. All those who pass by laugh and shake their fists at it.

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

This is the boisterous city, once so secure.“ I am the greatest!” it boasted.“ No other city can compare with me!” But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a haven for wild animals. Everyone passing by will laugh in derision and shake a defiant fist.

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

This is the presumptuous city That dwells securely, Who says in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, A resting place for animals! Everyone who passes by her will hiss And wave his hand in contempt.

This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart,“ I am it, and there is none besides me.” How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

This is the self-assured city that lives in security, that thinks to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her jeers and shakes his fist.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

This is how the once-proud city will end up– the city that was so secure. She thought to herself,“ I am unique! No one can compare to me!” What a heap of ruins she has become, a place where wild animals live! Everyone who passes by her taunts her and shakes his fist.

你曾说：‘我必永远作王后！’你不把这些事放在心上，也不顾念事情的结局。“因此，你这骄奢的人哪——你安然居住，心里说：‘只有我，除我以外再没有别的；我必不会寡居，也不会经历丧子之事。’——现在你要听这话：

你这充满叫嚷的喧闹之城、欢腾之邑啊！你当中被杀的人，却不是被刀所杀，也不是死于战场。

那些路过的人辱骂耶稣，摇着头，

她怎样炫耀自己、骄奢淫逸，你们也要照样给她折磨和悲伤，因为她心里说：‘我坐着女王的位子，我不是寡妇，绝不会经历悲伤。’为此，在一天之内她所受的灾害，就是死亡、悲伤和饥荒，就要来到。她将要在烈火中被烧掉，因为主、神——审判她的那一位是强有力的。”地上的众君王，就是那些与她行淫乱、一同骄奢淫逸的，当看见焚烧她时的烟，就会为她捶胸哀哭。他们因惧怕她所受的折磨，就远远地站着，说：“有祸了！有祸了！宏大的城，强大的巴比伦城啊！因为一时之间，你的审判就来到了！”地上的商人也为她哭泣、悲伤，因为再也没有人买他们的货物了；那些货物就是：金、银、宝石、珍珠，细麻布、紫色布、丝绸、深红色布，各种香木，各种象牙制品，各种极贵重的木、铜、铁和大理石的制品，肉桂、香料、香、香液、乳香；酒、油、面粉、麦子；牲畜、羊、马、马车；人的肉体和灵魂。“你心所贪恋的果子离开了你；一切珍馐美味、华丽物品，都从你那里消逝了，人绝不能再看到它们了。”贩卖这些东西的商人，就是那些由于她而发了财的人，因惧怕她所受的折磨，就会远远地站着，哭泣、悲伤，说：“有祸了！有祸了！宏大的城，那曾身穿细麻、紫色、深红色衣服，以金子、宝石、珍珠为装饰的城啊！这么多的财富，竟然在一时之间就化为乌有了！”所有的船长、所有到处航行的人、水手们、所有靠海为业的人，都远远地站着。他们看着焚烧她时的烟，呼喊说：“哪一个城能与这大城相比呢？”他们把尘土撒在自己头上，哭泣、悲伤，呼喊说：“有祸了！有祸了！宏大的城，所有靠着她在海上有船只的人都因她的财富发了财。她竟然在一时之间就化为乌有了！

当主完成了针对锡安山和耶路撒冷的一切工作时，他必说：“我要惩罚亚述王心思自大的作为和眼目高傲的虚夸。”因为亚述王说：“这是我以自己手的能力和自己的智慧所做的，因为我很聪明——我挪移了列国的地界，抢掠了他们的财宝，又像一个壮士使他们的居民臣服。我的手找到列国的财富，如同找到鸟巢；我收取全地，好像收取遗弃的鸟蛋；没有一个扇翅膀的，没有一个张嘴的，也没有一个啼叫的。”

安逸的妇女啊，你们要起来，听我的声音！安然无虑的女子啊，你们要倾听我的言语！

你必对巴比伦王唱这首讽刺歌：“压迫人的怎么止息了呢？凶暴怎么止息了呢？耶和华打断了恶人的杖和管辖者的权杖——

义人看见，就会心存敬畏，并且讥笑这人：“看哪，这个人不把神当作自己的保障，他依靠自己丰盛的财富，靠自己的奸恶得胜。”
