I will sweep away man and animal; I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, and the ruins along with the wicked. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth. This is the Lord’s declaration.

居民野獸、飛鳥海魚、偶像惡人、俱必殞亡、我耶和華已言之矣。

必除人與畜、除空中鳥、海中魚、除凡陷人於罪之事、及諸惡人、我必翦滅人於斯地、此乃主所言、

“ I will sweep away both man and beast; I will sweep away the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea— and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.”“ When I destroy all mankind on the face of the earth,” declares the Lord,

“ I will destroy people and animals alike. I will wipe out the birds in the sky and the fish in the waters. I will destroy the statues of gods that cause evil people to sin. That will happen when I destroy all human beings on the face of the earth,” announces the Lord.

“ I will sweep away man and beast; I will sweep away the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, and the rubble with the wicked. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

“ I will sweep away people and animals alike. I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish in the sea. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, and I will wipe humanity from the face of the earth,” says the Lord.

I will sweep away people and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, and the ruins along with the wicked. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth. This is the LORD’s declaration.

“ I will remove human and animal life; I will remove the birds of the sky And the fish of the sea, And the ruins along with the wicked; And I will eliminate mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

“ I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, The fish of the sea, And the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land,” Says the Lord.

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.

“ I will destroy people and animals; I will destroy the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea.( The idolatrous images of these creatures will be destroyed along with evil people.) I will remove humanity from the face of the earth,” says the Lord.

I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.

For this reason the land mourns, and everyone who lives in it languishes, along with the wild animals and the birds of the sky; even the fish of the sea disappear.

They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem like something filthy. Their silver and gold will be unable to save them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. They will not satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs, for these were the stumbling blocks that brought about their iniquity.

I will remove the cities of your land and tear down all your fortresses.I will remove sorceries from your hands, and you will not have any more fortune-tellers.I will remove your carved images and sacred pillars from you so that you will not bow down again to the work of your hands.I will pull up the Asherah poles from among you and demolish your cities.

“ Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire as fuel, so I will give up the residents of Jerusalem.I will turn against them. They may have escaped from the fire, but it will still consume them. And you will know that I am Yahweh when I turn against them.I will make the land desolate because they have acted unfaithfully.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.

But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites: to eat meat sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty. I looked to the heavens, and their light was gone.I looked at the mountains, and they were quaking; all the hills shook.I looked, and no man was left; all the birds of the sky had fled.I looked, and the fertile field was a wilderness. All its cities were torn down because of the Lord and His burning anger.For this is what the Lord says: The whole land will be a desolation, but I will not finish it off.Because of this, the earth will mourn; the skies above will grow dark. I have spoken; I have planned, and I will not relent or turn back from it.Every city flees at the sound of the horseman and the archer. They enter the thickets and climb among the rocks. Every city is abandoned; no inhabitant is left.

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put sinful stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I be consulted by them at all?“ Therefore, speak to them and tell them: This is what the Lord God says: When anyone from the house of Israel sets up idols in his heart, puts a sinful stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet, I, Yahweh, will answer him appropriately. I will answer him according to his many idols,so that I may take hold of the house of Israel by their hearts. They are all estranged from Me because of their idols.“ Therefore, say to the house of Israel: This is what the Lord God says: Repent and turn away from your idols; turn your faces away from all your detestable things.For when anyone from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who reside in Israel separates himself from Me, setting up idols in his heart and putting a sinful stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me, I, Yahweh, will answer him Myself.

On that day”— this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts—“ I will erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.

Therefore Jacob’s iniquity will be purged in this way, and the result of the removal of his sin will be this: when he makes all the altar stones like crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.

“ Son of man, if a land sins against Me by acting faithlessly, and I stretch out My hand against it to cut off its supply of bread, to send famine through it, and to wipe out both man and animal from it,even if these three men— Noah, Daniel, and Job— were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.“ If I allow dangerous animals to pass through the land and depopulate it so that it becomes desolate, with no one passing through it for fear of the animals,even if these three men were in it, as I live”— the declaration of the Lord God—“ they could not deliver their sons or daughters. They alone would be delivered, but the land would be desolate.“ Or if I bring a sword against that land and say: Let a sword pass through it, so that I wipe out both man and animal from it,even if these three men were in it, as I live”— the declaration of the Lord God—“ they could not deliver their sons or daughters, but they alone would be delivered.“ Or if I send a plague into that land and pour out My wrath on it with bloodshed to wipe out both man and animal from it,even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live”— the declaration of the Lord God—“ they could not deliver their son or daughter. They would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.“ For this is what the Lord God says: How much worse will it be when I send My four devastating judgments against Jerusalem— sword, famine, dangerous animals, and plague— in order to wipe out both man and animal from it!

Ephraim, why should I have anything more to do with idols? It is I who answer and watch over him. I am like a flourishing pine tree; your fruit comes from Me.

For I tell you, you will never see Me again until you say,‘ He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One’!”

Assyria will not save us, we will not ride on horses, and we will no longer proclaim,‘ Our gods!’ to the work of our hands. For the fatherless receives compassion in You.”

How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? Because of the evil of its residents, animals and birds have been swept away, for the people have said,“ He cannot see what our end will be.”

Because they ministered to the house of Israel before their idols and became a sinful stumbling block to them, therefore I swore an oath against them”— this is the declaration of the Lord God—“ that they would bear the consequences of their sin.
