“ I will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about like those who are blind, because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like dung.

I will bring great trouble on all people. So they will feel their way around like blind people. They have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dust. Their bodies will lie rotting on the ground.

Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that[ it is] an evil[ thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear[ is] not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their[ blood] by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and[ be] widows; and let their men be put to death;[ let] their young men[ be] slain by the sword in battle.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given[ to be] meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and[ there was] none to bury[ them].

And[ some] of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say,[ Is] not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed[ as] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and[ some] of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed[ woman], and bury her: for she[ is] a king’s daughter.And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of[ her] hands.Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This[ is] the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel;[ so] that they shall not say, This[ is] Jezebel.

Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness,[ but] we walk in darkness.We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if[ we had] no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night;[ we are] in desolate places as dead[ men].

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

For death is come up into our windows,[ and] is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without,[ and] the young men from the streets.Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather[ them].

For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find[ it so].

[ There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed[ difference] between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.Her princes in the midst thereof[ are] like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood,[ and] to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.And her prophets have daubed them with untempered[ morter], seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.

They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried;[ but] they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD,[ even] lovingkindness and mercies.Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall[ men] lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed,[ and] come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into[ their] hands,[ from whom] I am not able to rise up.

For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions[ are] with us; and[ as for] our iniquities, we know them;In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.Yea, truth faileth; and he[ that] departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw[ it], and it displeased him that[ there was] no judgment.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Thus saith the LORD, Where[ is] the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors[ is it] to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain[ them] in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed,[ and] not pitied.

Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.

Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.O Lord, righteousness[ belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel,[ that are] near, and[ that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.O Lord, to us[ belongeth] confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.To the Lord our God[ belong] mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that[ is] written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.As[ it is] written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God[ is] righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people[ are become] a reproach to all[ that are] about us.Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

Thy way and thy doings have procured these[ things] unto thee; this[ is] thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
