“ I will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about like those who are blind, because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like dung.

I will bring great trouble on all people. So they will feel their way around like blind people. They have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dust. Their bodies will lie rotting on the ground.

與耶穌在那裡的一些法利賽人聽了這些話，就說：「難道我們也是瞎眼的嗎？」耶穌對他們說：「如果你們是瞎眼的，就沒有罪了。但如今你們說『我們能看見』，所以你們的罪仍然存在。

大地被其上的居民玷汙，因為他們違背律法，違犯律例，破壞永遠的約。因此詛咒吞噬大地，其上的居民必承受罪責；因此地上的居民被焚燒，只有少數人殘留下來。

弟兄們，我不願意你們不明白這奧祕，免得你們自以為聰明。這奧祕就是：以色列人中的部分人變得剛硬，直到外邦人的全數滿足了，

就是說，沒有具備這些的就是瞎眼的，他只看得見眼前的，忘記自己過去的罪孽已經得了潔淨。

所以怎麼樣呢？以色列人並沒有獲得他們所尋求的，蒙揀選的人卻獲得了，而其餘的人都成了剛硬的，

因此公正遠離我們，公義追不上我們。我們指望光明，看哪，卻是黑暗；我們指望亮光，卻行走在幽暗之中！我們像瞎眼的沿著牆壁摸索，像沒有眼睛一樣摸索；我們在正午像在黃昏時那樣絆倒；我們在健壯人中就像死人一樣。

而是因為耶和華用沉睡的靈澆灌你們；他封閉了你們的眼睛，就是眾先知；他蒙住了你們的頭，就是眾先見。

因為我們的過犯在你面前增多，我們的罪惡證實我們的不是；我們的過犯與我們在一起，我們也知道我們的罪孽：我們悖逆、否認耶和華，背道不跟隨我們的神；說欺壓、反叛的話；心懷虛假的話語，並由心發出。公正被逐退，公義遠遠地站著，因為真理在廣場絆倒，正直不能進來；真理缺失，遠離惡事的人反被擄奪。耶和華看見了，這一切在他眼中看為惡，因為沒有一點公正。

因為你說『我是富有的；我發了財，什麼都不缺』，卻不知道你是可悲的、可憐的、貧窮的、瞎眼的、赤身的。

耶和華如此說：「我休你們母親的休書在哪裡呢？我把你們賣給了我哪一個債主呢？看哪！你們被賣是因你們的罪孽，你們的母親被休是因你們的過犯。

我們犯了罪，行事扭曲，作惡背叛，偏離了你的誡命和法規，沒有聽從你的僕人眾先知——他們奉你的名向我們的君王們、首領們、祖先們和這地所有的子民說話。「主啊，公義在於你；至於我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，以及你驅趕到遠近各地的全體以色列人，因為對你行事不忠，都滿面羞恥，就像今天這樣！耶和華啊，我們和我們的君王們、首領們、祖先們都滿面羞恥，因為我們對你犯了罪！憐憫和赦免在於主我們的神；我們卻背叛了他，沒有聽從耶和華我們神的話，沒有遵行他藉著他的僕人眾先知在我們面前所立的律法。「全體以色列人都違背、偏離了你的律法，不聽從你的話；因此神的僕人摩西的律法上所記的詛咒和審判都傾瀉在我們身上，因為我們對神犯了罪。神實現了他的話語，就是他針對我們、針對那些審判我們的審判官所說的，為要使極大的禍患臨到我們身上；像這樣在耶路撒冷所發生的禍患，在普天之下從來沒有發生過。照著摩西的律法上所記的，這一切禍患都臨到我們身上；然而我們卻沒有懇求耶和華我們神的恩寵，好使我們回轉離開自己的罪孽，留心你的真理。於是耶和華有意使這禍患臨到我們身上，因為耶和華我們的神所做的一切都是公義的，但我們卻沒有聽從他的話。「主我們的神哪，你曾用大能的手把你的子民從埃及地領出來，為自己成就了名聲，就像今天這樣；我們犯了罪，做了惡！主啊，現在求你照著你一切的公義，從你的城耶路撒冷和你的聖山收回你的怒氣和你的怒火！因我們的罪過和我們祖先的罪孽，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了我們四圍所有的人辱罵的對象。「我們的神哪，現在求你垂聽你僕人的禱告和懇求；主啊，為你自己的緣故，求你使你的臉照亮你荒涼的聖所！我的神哪，求你側耳聽，求你垂聽！求你睜眼看我們的荒涼和這被稱為你名下的城，因為我們在你面前呈上的懇求不是因著我們的義，而是因著你豐盛的憐憫。主啊，求你垂聽！主啊，求你赦免！主啊，求你留心聽並且行動！我的神哪，為你自己的緣故，求你不要遲延，因為你的城和你的子民都是被稱為你名下的。」

隨他們吧！他們是給瞎子領路的瞎子。如果瞎子給瞎子領路，兩個人都會掉進坑裡。」

對於他們，這世代的神把這些不信之人的心眼弄瞎了，使他們不能洞察基督榮耀的福音之光。基督就是神的形像。
