耶路撒冷中有數人、跏趺危坐、若酒澄清、渣滓在底、自謂耶和華不加以賞罰、當是時我必燭照而遍索之、以治其罪、

當是日我必以燈巡察耶路撒冷、其中有人安然無懼、若酒澄清、渣滓在底、若酒澄清渣滓在底或作若酒在渣滓上心中曰、主不降福、亦不降災、如是之人、我必懲罰、

At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think,‘ The Lord will do nothing, either good or bad.’

“ And it shall come to pass at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And punish the men Who are settled in complacency, Who say in their heart,‘ The Lord will not do good, Nor will He do evil.’

Moab has been left quiet since his youth, settled like wine on its dregs. He hasn’t been poured from one container to another or gone into exile. So his taste has remained the same, and his aroma hasn’t changed.

Then He said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his idol? For they are saying,‘ The Lord does not see us. The Lord has abandoned the land.’”

I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: Strike the capitals of the pillars so that the thresholds shake; knock them down on the heads of all the people. Then I will kill the rest of them with the sword. He answered me:“ The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is extremely great; the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity. For they say,‘ The Lord has abandoned the land; He does not see.’

They say,“ The Lord doesn’t see it. The God of Jacob doesn’t pay attention.”

You have said:“ It is useless to serve God. What have we gained by keeping His requirements and walking mournfully before the Lord of Hosts?So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape.”

“ I am about to send for many fishermen”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ and they will fish for them. Then I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and out of the clefts of the rocks,for My gaze takes in all their ways. They are not concealed from Me, and their guilt is not hidden from My sight.

saying,“ Where is the promise of His coming? Ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.”

Like scarecrows in a cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them for they can do no harm— and they cannot do any good.

Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, and what will we gain by pleading with Him?”

He says to himself,“ God has forgotten; He hides His face and will never see.”Rise up, Lord God! Lift up Your hand. Do not forget the afflicted.Why has the wicked person despised God? He says to himself,“ You will not demand an account.”

The fool says in his heart,“ God does not exist.” They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.

to those who say:“ Let Him hurry up and do His work quickly so that we can see it! Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel take place so that we can know it!”

I will kill her children with the plague. Then all the churches will know that I am the One who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.
