A people who come from several nations will take over Ashdod. The Lord says,“ I will put an end to the pride of the Philistines.

“ A mixed race shall settle in Ashdod, And I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

This is what they will get in return for their pride, for insulting and mocking the people of the Lord Almighty.

The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted( and they will be humbled),for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,for every trading ship and every stately vessel.The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,

God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.

The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.

Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim’s drunkards, to the fading flower, his glorious beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley— to that city, the pride of those laid low by wine!
