Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away[ the punishment] thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted;[ there is] sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.Damascus is waxed feeble,[ and] turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on[ her]: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.

Mine eyes[ are] ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and[ things] wherein[ there is] no profit.

The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye[ that are] escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god[ that] cannot save.Tell ye, and bring[ them] near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time?[ who] hath told it from that time?[ have] not I the LORD? and[ there is] no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour;[ there is] none beside me.Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I[ am] God, and[ there is] none else.

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect[ that] which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

And the inhabitants of one[ city] shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days[ it shall come to pass], that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard[ that] God[ is] with you.

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from[ being] a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.The cities of Aroer[ are] forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make[ them] afraid.The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.

The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.And all the people shall know,[ even] Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change[ them into] cedars.Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.The ancient and honourable, he[ is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he[ is] the tail.For the leaders of this people cause[ them] to err; and[ they that are] led of them[ are] destroyed.Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one[ is] an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up[ like] the lifting up of smoke.Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh:[ and] they together[ shall be] against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.

The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus[ in] a couch.

I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which[ is] on the left hand of Damascus.

The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
