Here is what you must do. Speak the truth to one another. Make true and wise decisions in your courts.

These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace;

But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace.

“ This is what the Lord Almighty said:‘ Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.”

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”“ What should we do then?” the crowd asked.John answered,“ Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”Even tax collectors came to be baptized.“ Teacher,” they asked,“ what should we do?”“ Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” he told them.Then some soldiers asked him,“ And what should we do?” He replied,“ Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely— be content with your pay.”

An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies.

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

“‘ Do not steal.“‘ Do not lie.“‘ Do not deceive one another.

and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.

“ They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.“ Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer.Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;for it is written:“ Be holy, because I am holy.”

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.

But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done.Observe therefore all the commands I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to go in and take over the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,

Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land:“ There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars— they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
