For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither[ was there any] peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.

Before that time there were no wages for people or hire for animals. No one could go about their business safely because of their enemies, since I had turned everyone against their neighbor.

[ They that are delivered] from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD,[ even] the righteous acts[ toward the inhabitants] of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

Because of mine house that[ is] waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed[ from] her fruit.And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon[ that] which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
