Are these not the words which the Lord proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and carefree along with its cities around it, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’ ”

當耶路撒冷和它四圍的城市都有人居住、而且優遊興盛，南地和低原也都有人居住時，永恆主的話、由從前的神言人經手宣告的、你們不應當聽麼？』

這些話語難道不是耶和華藉著先前的眾先知所宣告的嗎？那時，耶路撒冷和四圍的各城都有人居住，並且很安穩，南地和高地也有人居住。』」

昔耶路撒冷及四周之邑、南方平原、隨在有民居處、無不安綏、我耶和華使古先知、不既言之詳乎、

昔耶路撒冷及四圍之邑、尚有居民享平康、南方與平原平原或作窪地尚有人居、此言主豈未曾藉古先知宣告於眾乎、

Are these not the words the Lord proclaimed through the earlier prophets when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were at rest and prosperous, and the Negev and the western foothills were settled?’”

Didn’t I tell you the same thing through the earlier prophets? That was when Jerusalem and the towns around it were at rest and enjoyed success. People lived in the Negev Desert and the western hills at that time.’ ”

Were not these the words that the Lord proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and prosperous, with her cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

Isn’t this the same message the Lord proclaimed through the prophets in years past when Jerusalem and the towns of Judah were bustling with people, and the Negev and the foothills of Judah were well populated?’”

Aren’t these the words that the LORD proclaimed through the earlier prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and secure, along with its surrounding cities, and when the southern region and the Judean foothills were inhabited?”

Should you not have obeyed the words which the Lord proclaimed through the former prophets when Jerusalem and the cities around it were inhabited and prosperous, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?’”

Should ye not hear the words which Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?

Aren’t these the words that the Lord proclaimed through the earlier prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and secure, along with its surrounding cities, and when the southern region and the Judean foothills were inhabited?”

[ Should ye] not[ hear] the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when[ men] inhabited the south and the plain?

Should you not have obeyed the words that the LORD cried out through the former prophets when Jerusalem was peacefully inhabited and her surrounding cities, the Negev, and the Shephelah were also populated?

Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the areas surrounding Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country, and from the Negev, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings, and frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of the Lord.

“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil,Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor, Obtain justice for the orphan, Plead for the widow’s case.“ Come now, and let us debate your case,” Says the Lord,“ Though your sins are as scarlet, They shall become as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.If you are willing and obedient, You will eat the best of the land;But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

People will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the Negev; for I will restore their fortunes,’ declares the Lord.”

But this is what I commanded them, saying,‘ Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.’

For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly practice justice between a person and his neighbor,

and the Negev and the territory in the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.

Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.Let the wicked abandon his way, And the unrighteous person his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Gather yourselves together, yes, join together, You nation without shame,Before the decree takes effect— The day passes like chaff— Before the burning anger of the Lord comes upon you, Before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you.Seek the Lord, All you humble of the earth Who have practiced His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will remain hidden On the day of the Lord’s anger.

Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our leaders, our fathers, and all the people of the land.“ Righteousness belongs to You, Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day— to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You.Open shame belongs to us, Lord, to our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, because we have rebelled against Him;and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.Indeed, all Israel has violated Your Law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has gushed forth on us, along with the oath which is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.So He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great disaster; for under the entire heaven there has not been done anything like what was done in Jerusalem.Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our wrongdoing and giving attention to Your truth.So the Lord has kept the disaster in store and brought it on us; for the Lord our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.

“ Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, each according to his conduct,” declares the Lord God.“ Repent and turn away from all your offenses, so that wrongdoing does not become a stumbling block to you.Hurl away from you all your offenses which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why should you die, house of Israel?For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God.“ Therefore, repent and live!”

Return, Israel, to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your wrongdoing.Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him,“ Take away all guilt And receive us graciously, So that we may present the fruit of our lips.Assyria will not save us, We will not ride on horses; Nor will we say again,‘ Our god’ To the work of our hands; For in You the orphan finds mercy.”

Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David.

With what shall I come to the Lord And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, With yearling calves?Does the Lord take pleasure in thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give Him my firstborn for my wrongdoings, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?He has told you, mortal one, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

Seek good and not evil, so that you may live; And so may the Lord God of armies be with you, Just as you have said!Hate evil, love good, And establish justice in the gate! Perhaps the Lord God of armies Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the Negev, in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them,’ says the Lord.

“ Take a scroll and write on it all the words which I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I first spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.Perhaps the house of Judah will listen to all the disaster which I plan to carry out against them, so that every person will turn from his evil way; then I will forgive their wrongdoing and their sin.”

I spoke to you in your prosperity; But you said,‘ I will not listen!’ This has been your way from your youth, That you have not obeyed My voice.

Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return to Me,” declares the Lord of armies,“ that I may return to you,” says the Lord of armies.“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.“ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?But did My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said,‘ Just as the Lord of armies planned to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”
