Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole land: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off on the one side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off on the other side according to it.

他對我說：「這是向全地面發出的詛咒。凡偷竊的都必照著書卷這一面上的話被清除，凡起假誓的都必照著書卷另一面上的話被清除。

彼曰、此乃呪詛、遍行斯土、凡盜竊者、必按卷此面之文而見絕、凡妄誓者、必按卷彼面之文而見絕、

天使曰、此咒詛之詞、遍行天下、凡盜竊者、必殲滅於左、凡妄誓者、必殲滅於右、俱循此言。

彼曰、此載咒詛咒詛或作降災之詞、遍行天下、凡盜竊者、必循卷此面之言被除、凡妄誓者、必循卷彼面之言被除、凡盜竊者必循卷此面之言被除凡妄誓者必循卷彼面之言被除或作凡盜竊者必循此卷見除於此凡妄誓者必循此卷見除於彼

And he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.

He said to me,“ A curse sent by the Lord is written on it. It is going out over the whole land. Every thief will be driven out of the land. That is what it says on one side of the scroll. Everyone who lies when promising to tell the truth will also be driven out. That is what it says on the other side.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side.

Then he said to me,“ This scroll contains the curse that is going out over the entire land. One side of the scroll says that those who steal will be banished from the land; the other side says that those who swear falsely will be banished from the land.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the entire land; everyone who steals certainly will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears falsely will be purged away according to the writing on the other side.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth:‘ Every thief shall be expelled,’ according to this side of the scroll; and,‘ Every perjurer shall be expelled,’ according to that side of it.”

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for every thief will be removed according to what is written on one side, and everyone who swears falsely will be removed according to what is written on the other side.

Then said he unto me, This[ is] the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off[ as] on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off[ as] on that side according to it.

The speaker went on to say,“ This is a curse traveling across the whole earth. For example, according to the curse whoever steals will be removed from the community; or on the other hand( according to the curse) whoever swears falsely will suffer the same fate.”

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side.

Thou shalt not steal.

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel a reviling.

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, and profane the name of thy God: I am Jehovah.

I will cause it to go forth, saith Jehovah of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

And though they say, As Jehovah liveth; surely they swear falsely.

then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

and the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt set the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination unto Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and setteth it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that wresteth the justice due to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife, because he hath uncovered his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that lieth with his mother- in- law. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, The righteous shall live by faith;and the law is not of faith; but, He that doeth them shall live in them.Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith Jehovah.

as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

And he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him; he also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land;that the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; But he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.

There is nought but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery; they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:

Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods that ye have not known,

Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded?Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men,

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the sojourner from his right, and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.Ye are cursed with the curse; for ye rob me, even this whole nation.Bring ye the whole tithe into the store- house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading- trough.Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.Jehovah will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.Jehovah will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it.Jehovah will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.Jehovah will make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.Jehovah will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them: and thou shalt be tossed to and from among all the kingdoms of the earth.And thy dead body shall be food unto all birds of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away.Jehovah will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.Jehovah will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart;and thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee.Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to save thee.Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people; and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.The fruit of thy ground, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway;so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.Jehovah will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head.Jehovah will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither Jehovah shall lead thee away.Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather little in; for the locust shall consume it.Thou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but thou shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worm shall eat them.Thou shalt have olive- trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast its fruit.Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be thine; for they shall go into captivity.All thy trees and the fruit of thy ground shall the locust possess.The sojourner that is in the midst of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt come down lower and lower.He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.Because thou servedst not Jehovah thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things;therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies that Jehovah shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.Jehovah will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young,and shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed; that also shall not leave thee grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of thy cattle, or the young of thy flock, until they have caused thee to perish.And they shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fortified walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land; and they shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, whom Jehovah thy God hath given thee, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee.The man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children whom he hath remaining;so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he hath nothing left him, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in all thy gates.The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,and toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH THY GOD;then Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.And he will bring upon thee again all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will Jehovah bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God.And it shall come to pass, that, as Jehovah rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so Jehovah will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest in to possess it.And Jehovah will scatter thee among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers, even wood and stone.And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot: but Jehovah will give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul;and thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life.In the morning thou shalt say, Would it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would it were morning! for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.And Jehovah will bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I said unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall sell yourselves unto your enemies for bondmen and for bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.For the land which hath drunk the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receiveth blessing from God:but if it beareth thorns and thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curse; whose end is to be burned.

for so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.

Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside, that they should not obey thy voice: therefore hath the curse been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God; for we have sinned against him.

Woe unto you, ye blind guides, that say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.Ye fools and blind: for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that hath sanctified the gold?And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, he is a debtor.Ye blind: for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?He therefore that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.And he that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.And he that sweareth by the heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul; He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.

Yea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him; And he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him.He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment, And it came into his inward parts like water, And like oil into his bones.Let it be unto him as the raiment wherewith he covereth himself, And for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually.This is the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, And of them that speak evil against my soul.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment.

For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right;

Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black.But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one.

and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.Jehovah will not pardon him, but then the anger of Jehovah and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and Jehovah will blot out his name from under heaven.And Jehovah will set him apart unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith Jehovah hath made it sick;and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:even all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?Then men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that he had not given unto them:therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book;and Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.
