猶太人的長老因哈該先知和易多的孫子撒迦利亞的預言，就建造這殿，凡事順利。他們遵照以色列上帝的命令和波斯王居魯士、大流士、亞達薛西的諭旨，建造完畢。大流士王第六年，亞達月初三，這殿完工了。

於是那位設巴薩來建立耶路撒冷上帝殿的根基。但從那時直到如今，這殿尚未修建完畢。』

對他說，萬軍之耶和華如此說：『看哪，那名稱為大衛苗裔的，要在本處生長，並要建造耶和華的殿。就是他，要建造耶和華的殿，他要承受尊榮，坐在位上掌王權；又有一位祭司坐在自己的位上，兩職之間籌劃和平。

他們到了耶路撒冷上帝殿的第二年，二月的時候，撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯，約薩達的兒子耶書亞和其餘的弟兄，就是祭司和利未人，以及所有被擄歸回耶路撒冷的人，就開工建造；他們派二十歲以上的利未人，監督建造耶和華殿的工作。於是何達威雅的後裔，就是耶書亞和他的子孫與弟兄、甲篾和他的子孫，他們和利未人希拿達的子孫與弟兄，都起來如同一人，監督那些在上帝殿裏做工的人。工匠立耶和華殿根基的時候，祭司穿禮服吹號，利未人亞薩的子孫敲鈸，都照以色列王大衛親手所定的，站着讚美耶和華。他們彼此唱和，讚美稱謝耶和華：「他本為善，他向以色列永施慈愛。」他們讚美耶和華的時候，眾百姓大聲呼喊，因為耶和華殿的根基已經立定。然而有許多祭司、利未人和族長，就是見過先前那殿的老年人，現在親眼看見這殿立了根基，就大聲哭號，也有許多人大聲歡呼，百姓不能分辨歡呼的聲音或哭號的聲音，因為百姓大聲呼喊，聲音連遠處都可聽到。

使他們都合而為一。正如父你在我裏面，我在你裏面，使他們也在我們裏面，好讓世人信是你差我來的。

但我有比約翰更大的見證：父交給我去完成的工作，就是我正在做的，為我作證是父差遣了我。那差我來的父也為我作了見證。你們從來沒有聽見他的聲音，也沒有看見他的形像。

因為上帝差他的兒子到世上來，不是要定世人的罪，而是要使世人因他得救。

萬軍之耶和華在顯出榮耀之後，差遣我到擄掠你們的列國那裏，他如此說：「碰你們的就是碰他自己眼中的瞳人。看哪，我要揮手攻擊他們，他們就必作自己奴僕的擄物。」你們就知道萬軍之耶和華差遣了我。

在那日，必有許多國家歸附耶和華，作我的子民。我要住在你中間。」你就知道萬軍之耶和華差遣我到你那裏去。

即使我判斷人，我的判斷也是真確的，因為不是我獨自在判斷，而是差我來的父與我一同判斷。你們的律法也記着說：『兩個人的見證才算為真』。我是為自己作見證，還有差我來的父也為我作見證。」

仰望我們信心的創始成終者耶穌，他因那擺在前面的喜樂，輕看羞辱，忍受了十字架的苦難，如今已坐在上帝寶座的右邊。

你們要接近我來聽這話，我從起初就未曾在隱密之處說話，萬事之始，我就在那裏。」現在，主耶和華差遣了我，帶着他的靈而來。

我還告訴你，你是彼得，我要把我的教會建造在這磐石上，陰間的權柄不能勝過它。

遠方的人要來建造耶和華的殿，你們因此就知道，萬軍之耶和華差遣我到你們這裏來。你們若留意聽從耶和華－你們上帝的話，這事必然成就。
