This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The Lord is our God.’”

救爾出苦難。賜爾贊化育。

因是爾當拓開心胸、歡欣雀躍。蓋爾目前雖不免殷憂多難、然此乃所以鍛鍊爾之信德、而於耶穌基督顯現之日、玉成爾之光榮及天爵耳。夫黃金乃必朽之物、尚且以火煉之；而信德固貴於黃金也。

凡求主名者無不獲救。」

凡堅忍到底者、必得承此洪基。我願為其主、彼當為我子。

親愛之同道乎、爾等之受煆煉、所以玉汝於成、切勿大驚小怪、一若遭遇不測也者。

賜我鍛鍊。如銀在鑪。加我困厄。勞我形軀。令彼敵人。虐我如奴。水深火熱。不遑寧居。試練既畢。惠以安舒。

耶穌曰：『爾曹昧於經義、及天主之大能、宜其誤也。蓋復活後、不娶不嫁、一如主之天神。論死者之復活詎未讀天主所曉示於爾者乎？天主曰：「我乃亞伯漢之天主、依灑格之天主、雅各伯之天主。」夫天主非死者之天主、乃生者之天主也。』

棄惡勉行善。和睦最可悅。主目所樂視。賢者之行實。主耳所樂聽。賢者之陳述。作惡激天怒。身死名亦滅。賢者求見應。處困不終日。傷心承溫燠。哀慟見矜恤。

彼有所求吾必應彼有急難吾必拯。

主曰：「時既至、當與義塞約如次欲將吾誡命、置彼腔子裏；真諦與妙道、深深銘腑肺；我為彼主宰、彼為我子民

並聞巨音自寶座而發曰：「睹哉、睹哉、天主之幔帷降世！主將長留人間；世人當得為其子民，天主自願為其所天；天主必親為拭其目中之淚。此後不復有死喪、哀悼、悲泣、憂愁等事舊緒已成過去。」

亦無間於猶太人與希臘人也。真主惟一、乃天下萬民之所共戴；凡有求之者、未有不被其豐恩厚澤者也。故曰：『凡籲主名者、必蒙救恩。』然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

身處逆境而能堅忍自守者乃為有福之人。蓋經試練而不渝者；必獲生命之冠、此固天主所許於其孝愛之子也。

蓋元基已奠、孰能捨而另植、元基惟一、基督耶穌是已。人若在此基礎之上有所建築、則無論其為金也、銀也、玉也、木也、茅草也禾稿也、要之各人之工作、終必昭然若揭、無可隱匿。在主之日、主將以炬火燭照各人之工程、且加以煆煉焉。
