昔我判海為二、使民過之、後必使溝渠盡涸、翦亞述之驕心、毀埃及之鈞衡、

主使民由苦海而過、或作主使民辛苦過海主必擊海之波濤、使河河即伊及之尼羅河之一切深處盡涸、亞述驕傲必降、伊及權勢必除、

They will pass through the sea of trouble; the surging sea will be subdued and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. Assyria’s pride will be brought down and Egypt’s scepter will pass away.

There they will be a lowly kingdom.It will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the other nations. I will make it so weak that it will never again rule over the nations.Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence for the people of Israel but will be a reminder of their sin in turning to her for help. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.’” (niv)

He will stretch out his hand against the north and destroy Assyria, leaving Nineveh utterly desolate and dry as the desert. (niv)

So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground. The waters of the river will dry up, and the riverbed will be parched and dry.The canals will stink; the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up. The reeds and rushes will wither,also the plants along the Nile, at the mouth of the river. Every sown field along the Nile will become parched, will blow away and be no more. (niv)
