Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live forever?

Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way; When the almond tree blossoms, The grasshopper is a burden, And desire fails. For man goes to his eternal home, And the mourners go about the streets.

Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?As water disappears from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dries up,So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep.

“ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

Then the Jews said to Him,“ Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say,‘ If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.’

The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing.But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.

For I considered all this in my heart, so that I could declare it all: that the righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God. People know neither love nor hatred by anything they see before them.All things come alike to all: One event happens to the righteous and the wicked; To the good, the clean, and the unclean; To him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner; He who takes an oath as he who fears an oath.This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

One generation passes away, and another generation comes; But the earth abides forever.

that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,and saying,“ Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
