So the Lord spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me.

So the Lord replied with kind and comforting words. He spoke them to the angel who talked with me.

The LORD then addressed good, comforting words to the angelic messenger who was speaking to me.

Yahweh answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.

“ Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God.“ Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, That her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the LORD’s hand Double for all her sins.”

For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.

“ On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old;That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the Lord who does this thing.“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,“ When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them,” Says the Lord your God.

‘ Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,‘ Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet, And no one shall make him afraid.For I am with you,’ says the Lord,‘ to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’“ For thus says the Lord:‘ Your affliction is incurable, Your wound is severe.There is no one to plead your cause, That you may be bound up; You have no healing medicines.All your lovers have forgotten you; They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased.Why do you cry about your affliction? Your sorrow is incurable. Because of the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you.‘ Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; Those who plunder you shall become plunder, And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,‘ Because they called you an outcast saying:“ This is Zion; No one seeks her.”’“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents, And have mercy on his dwelling places; The city shall be built upon its own mound, And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.Their children also shall be as before, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all who oppress them.Their nobles shall be from among them, And their governor shall come from their midst; Then I will cause him to draw near, And he shall approach Me; For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord.‘ You shall be My people, And I will be your God.’”

So the angel who spoke with me said to me,“ Proclaim, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ I am zealous for Jerusalem And for Zion with great zeal.I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease; For I was a little angry, And they helped— but with evil intent.”‘ Therefore thus says the Lord:“ I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy; My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,“ And a surveyor’s line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

who said to him,“ Run, speak to this young man, saying:‘ Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.For I,’ says the Lord,‘ will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”“ Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord;“ for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord.“ Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.”For thus says the Lord of hosts:“ He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.“ Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord.“ Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!The Lord has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more.In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:“ Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak.The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”“ I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, Who are among you, To whom its reproach is a burden.Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame, And gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame In every land where they were put to shame.At that time I will bring you back, Even at the time I gather you; For I will give you fame and praise Among all the peoples of the earth, When I return your captives before your eyes,” Says the Lord.

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ I am zealous for Zion with great zeal; With great fervor I am zealous for her.’“ Thus says the Lord:‘ I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the Lord of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ Old men and old women shall again sit In the streets of Jerusalem, Each one with his staff in his hand Because of great age.The streets of the city Shall be full of boys and girls Playing in its streets.’“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’ Says the Lord of hosts.“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east And from the land of the west;I will bring them back, And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be My people And I will be their God, In truth and righteousness.’

Then I said,“ My Lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me,“ I will show you what they are.”

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:“ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria; The planters shall plant and eat them as ordinary food.For there shall be a day When the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim,‘ Arise, and let us go up to Zion, To the Lord our God.’”For thus says the Lord:“ Sing with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim, give praise, and say,‘ O Lord, save Your people, The remnant of Israel!’Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there.They shall come with weeping, And with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.“ Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say,‘ He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he.Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of the Lord— For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, And they shall sorrow no more at all.“ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, And the young men and the old, together; For I will turn their mourning to joy, Will comfort them, And make them rejoice rather than sorrow.I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.”

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ The fast of the fourth month, The fast of the fifth, The fast of the seventh, And the fast of the tenth, Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts For the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.’

Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
