he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

He saved us. It wasn’t because of the good things we had done. It was because of his mercy. He saved us by washing away our sins. We were born again. The Holy Spirit gave us new life.

He is the one who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not based on our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you– not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God– through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God– what is good and well- pleasing and perfect.

to sanctify her by cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word,

But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

Create for me a pure heart, O God! Renew a resolute spirit within me!

Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy,

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb and be born a second time, can he?”Jesus answered,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

For we consider that a person is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law.

Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you.

Because of our God’s tender mercy the dawn will break upon us from on high

But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and merciful God. You are patient and demonstrate great loyal love and faithfulness.

How then can a human being be righteous before God? How can one born of a woman be pure?

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say,“ and to the descendants,” referring to many, but“ and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.What I am saying is this: The law that came four hundred thirty years later does not cancel a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to invalidate the promise.For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise, but God graciously gave it to Abraham through the promise.Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the descendant to whom the promise had been made. It was administered through angels by an intermediary.Now an intermediary is not for one party alone, but God is one.Is the law therefore opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

even before they were born or had done anything good or bad( so that God’s purpose in election would stand, not by works but by his calling)–

There is no other God like you! You forgive sin and pardon the rebellion of those who remain among your people. You do not remain angry forever, but delight in showing loyal love.

yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant–

from generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.

and have been clothed with the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it.

But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.

You once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, but now you have received mercy.

I will denounce your so-called righteousness and your deeds, but they will not help you.

What shall we say then?– that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,

So then, it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.

But“ when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,

and then have committed apostasy, to renew them again to repentance, since they are crucifying the Son of God for themselves all over again and holding him up to contempt.

and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do.

The expert answered,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.”Jesus said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Certainly O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you.

O Israel, hope in the LORD, for the LORD exhibits loyal love, and is more than willing to deliver.

What is man that he should be pure, or one born of woman, that he should be righteous?

Although I am innocent, my mouth would condemn me; although I am blameless, it would declare me perverse.
