蓋吾人從前亦昏昧悖逆、徬徨岐途、縱情恣慾、險狠媢嫉；己實可惡、而轉以惡人。

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

At one time we too acted like fools. We didn’t obey God. We were tricked. We were controlled by all kinds of desires and pleasures. We were full of evil. We wanted what belongs to others. People hated us, and we hated one another.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals,thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

You also lived your lives in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.

But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were entrusted to,

Like obedient children, do not comply with the evil urges you used to follow in your ignorance,

So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non- Christians desire. You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries.

They are filled with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife with envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility. They are gossips,slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents,senseless, covenant- breakers, heartless, ruthless.

For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self- control, savage, opposed to what is good,

Abandon your foolish ways so that you may live, and proceed in the way of understanding.”

“ Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me not what you wish. I am afraid that somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

He shouted with a powerful voice:“ Fallen, fallen, is Babylon the great! She has become a lair for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detested beast.

Your presumptuous heart has deceived you– you who reside in the safety of the rocky cliffs, whose home is high in the mountains. You think to yourself,‘ No one can bring me down to the ground!’

and, by the signs he was permitted to perform on behalf of the beast, he deceived those who live on the earth. He told those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who had been wounded by the sword, but still lived.

So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.

What then? Are we better off? Certainly not, for we have already charged that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin,just as it is written:“ There is no one righteous, not even one,there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away, together they have become worthless; there is no one who shows kindness, not even one.”“ Their throats are open graves, they deceive with their tongues, the poison of asps is under their lips.”“ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”“ Their feet are swift to shed blood,ruin and misery are in their paths,and the way of peace they have not known.”“ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world may be held accountable to God.For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

You who are naive, discern wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment!

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats to murder the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priestand requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, either men or women, he could bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.As he was going along, approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”So he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” He replied,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!But stand up and enter the city and you will be told what you must do.”
