蓋吾人從前亦昏昧悖逆、徬徨岐途、縱情恣慾、險狠媢嫉；己實可惡、而轉以惡人。

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

At one time we too acted like fools. We didn’t obey God. We were tricked. We were controlled by all kinds of desires and pleasures. We were full of evil. We wanted what belongs to others. People hated us, and we hated one another.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.

But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were entrusted,

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.

people having been filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are gossips,slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,without understanding, untrustworthy, unfeeling, and unmerciful;

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good,

Abandon your foolishness and live, And proceed in the way of understanding.”

Jesus answered them,“ Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.

He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has misled him. And he cannot save himself, nor say,“ Is there not a lie in my right hand?”

And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying,“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.

The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, The one who lives in the clefts of the rock, On the height of his dwelling place, Who says in his heart,‘ Who will bring me down to earth?’

And he deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who* had the wound of the sword and has come to life.

And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;as it is written:“ There is no righteous person, not even one;There is no one who understands, There is no one who seeks out God;They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, There is not even one.”“ Their throat is an open grave, With their tongues they keep deceiving,”“ The venom of asps is under their lips”;“ Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”;“ Their feet are swift to shed blood,Destruction and misery are in their paths,And they have not known the way of peace.”“ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin.

You naive ones, understand prudence; And, you fools, understand wisdom!

Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,and asked for letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them in shackles to Jerusalem.Now as he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”And he said,“ Who are You, Lord?” And He said,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,but get up and enter the city, and it will be told to you what you must do.”
