Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.

Our people must learn to commit themselves to doing what is good. Then they can provide for people when they are in great need. If they do that, their lives won’t turn out to be useless.

And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation— the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ— for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.

I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.

So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire.

The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

Leave it another year, and I’ll give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer.If we get figs next year, fine. If not, then you can cut it down.’”

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.

We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation.For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.

Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you.
