你們行事、都不要發怨言、起爭論，好使你們無可責備、而又天真，在彎曲乖僻的世代中做上帝的兒女、無瑕無疵；你們顯於其中像發光之體在世界裏，把生命之道舉出來，好等基督的日子做我所誇口的，誇我沒有空跑，也沒有空勞。

所以我願年輕婦女結婚，生養兒女，治理家務，絕不給敵人有可辱罵的因由。

若有人傳別的教義，不歸順健全之道、我們主耶穌基督之道、跟那合乎敬虔教義之道，

若有人不聽從我們由這書信所囑咐的話。這樣的人、你們要記下來，別和他交往，讓他自覺羞愧；

耶穌說了這些話，所有敵對他的人都覺得慚愧；全羣的人因他所作一切光榮的事、盡都歡喜。

耶穌見他回答得有思想，就對他說：『你離上帝的國不遠了。』於是再沒有人敢詰問他了。

那經學士對他說：『先生，不錯；上帝只有一位，除他以外、再沒有別的上帝；將完全的心、完全的聰明、完全的力量愛他，又愛鄰舍如同自己，是比一切全燔祭和各樣祭祀好的多的：你說的真是對啊。』

有一個經學士聽見他們在辯論，就上前來；他覺得耶穌對他們回答得好，便詰問他說：『誡命中哪一條第一要緊呢？』

一聽見永恆主的話、就戰戰兢兢的人哪，你們聽永恆主的話吧！『你們的弟兄、那些恨惡你們、使你們為我名的緣故被趕逐的、曾譏笑說：「願永恆主得榮耀啊！讓我們看看你們的喜樂啊！」其實呢、蒙羞抱愧的倒是這種人呢！

耶穌就對他們說：『把該撒的東西納給該撒，把上帝的東西納給上帝。』他們對於他都非常希奇。
