不過要以溫柔、敬畏的心答覆，並且持守無愧的良心，以致誰詆毀你們在基督裡的良好品行，誰就要在你們受到誹謗的事上蒙羞。

做任何事都不要抱怨或爭論，好使你們成為無可指責、純潔無偽的人，在這扭曲、敗壞的世代中，做神毫無瑕疵的兒女；在這世代中，要像星星的光輝一樣照耀在世上。你們要持守生命的話語，好讓我在基督的日子裡可以誇耀我所奔跑的沒有落空，我所勞苦的也沒有落空。

所以，我希望年輕的寡婦結婚，生養兒女，料理家務，不給反對的人辱罵的機會。

如果有人傳講別的教義，不符合我們主耶穌基督的健全話語以及那合乎敬神的教導，

如果有人不順從我們這信上的話語，你們就要記住這個人，不可與他交往，好讓他感到羞愧；

耶穌說了這些話，所有反對他的人都感到蒙羞，可是眾人都因他所行的一切榮耀的事而感到歡喜。

耶穌見他回答得有智慧，就對他說：「你離神的國不遠了。」於是，沒有人敢再質問耶穌了。

那經文士就對耶穌說：「不錯，老師，你真的講了：神只有一位，除他以外沒有別的神。

有一個經文士前來，聽見他們辯論，見耶穌回答得好，就問耶穌：「所有的誡命中，哪一條是最重要的呢？」

因耶和華的話語而戰兢的人哪，你們要聽他的話！他說：「你們的兄弟，就是那些恨惡你們、因我名的緣故逼迫你們的，曾說：『願耶和華得榮耀，好讓我們看見你們的喜樂吧！』他們卻必蒙羞。」

耶穌對他們說：「凱撒的歸給凱撒；神的歸給神。」這使他們感到驚奇。
