The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.

I left you on the island of Crete. I did this because there were some things that hadn’t been finished. I wanted you to put them in order. I also wanted you to appoint elders in every town. I told you how to do it.

This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you—

兩人在各教會為他們指派了長老；禁食祈禱之後，就把他們交託給所信的主。

而且這港口不適宜過冬，所以大多數人主張離開那裡，也許可以到非尼基去過冬。非尼基是克里特的一個港口，一面向西南，一面向西北。

如果有人餓了，就應當在家裡先吃，免得你們聚集在一起的時候受到審判。其餘的事，我來的時候再作安排。

一連幾天，船都走得很慢，好不容易才到了革尼土的對面。因為有風阻擋著我們，就沿著克里特背風而行，從撒摩尼對面經過，

我往馬其頓去的時候，曾經勸你留在以弗所，為要囑咐某些人，不可傳別的教義，

又應當把你在許多見證人面前從我這裡聽見的，交託給那些又忠心又能夠教導別人的人。

他們就這樣行了，由巴拿巴和掃羅經手送到長老們那裡。

誰像我呢？讓他宣告，讓他述說，又在我面前陳明吧！自從我設立古時的子民，未來的事和將要發生的事，讓他們把它們述說出來吧！

克里特人以及阿拉伯人，都聽見他們用我們的語言，講說神的大作為。”

大家很久沒有吃飯了，保羅就站在他們中間，說：“各位，你們本來應該聽我的話不離開克里特，就不會遭受這場損失和破壞了。

他們在會幕的帳棚前擔任歌唱的工作，直到所羅門在耶路撒冷建造了耶和華的殿，他們按著班次執行自己的職務。

我雖然不在你們那裡，心卻與你們同在。我看見你們循規蹈矩，並且對基督有堅定的信心，就歡喜了。

傳道者不但有智慧，還將知識教訓眾人；他既揣摩，又查考，也編撰了許多箴言。

凡事都要規規矩矩地按著次序行。
