I would lead you and bring you to my mother’s house— she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.

How fair is thy love, my sister,[ my] spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!Thy lips, O[ my] spouse, drop[ as] the honeycomb: honey and milk[ are] under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments[ is] like the smell of Lebanon.A garden inclosed[ is] my sister,[ my] spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.Thy plants[ are] an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden,[ that] the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.I am come into my garden, my sister,[ my] spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish,[ whether] the tender grape appear,[ and] the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.

And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth[ down] sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.

She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace[ that should come] unto you:Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See[ thou do it] not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
