I would lead you and bring you to my mother’s house— she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.

但那在上面的耶路撒冷是自由女人；她是我們的母親。

宰殺了牲畜，調制了酒，又擺設了筵席。

關於這救恩，那些預言你們要得著這恩典的先知，曾經尋求過，詳細查考過。他們查考了自己裡面基督之靈，當他預言有關基督的苦難和此後的榮耀時，究竟指明的是什麼時候、或什麼樣的情況。他們蒙了啟示，知道所服事的這一切，不是為自己，而是為你們。如今，這些事藉著從天上派來的聖靈，通過那些向你們傳福音的人，傳講給了你們；對於這些事，天使們也渴望能詳細察看。

事實上，如果你們信摩西，就會信我，因為他寫了關於我的事；如果你們不相信他所寫的，又怎麼會相信我的話呢？」

我就俯伏在他的腳前，要敬拜他。可是他對我說：「你要注意，不可這樣！我與你和你的弟兄們——那些持守有關耶穌見證的，都是同做奴僕的。你應當敬拜神！因為有關耶穌的見證，才是預言的靈魂所在。」

你們查考經文，因你們以為從中可以得到永恆的生命。其實這經文就是為我做見證的。

「但是亞伯拉罕說：『你的兄弟們有摩西和先知們，讓你的兄弟們聽從他們吧。』「財主卻說：『不，我父亞伯拉罕哪！其實如果有人從死人中復活，到他們那裡去，他們就會悔改。』「可是亞伯拉罕對他說：『如果他們不聽從摩西和先知們，就算有人從死人中復活，他們也不會被說服的。』

並且你從年幼就知道了聖經，這聖經能使你有智慧，藉著在基督耶穌裡的信仰，以至於救恩。

這裡的人比帖撒羅尼迦的人開明。他們滿心樂意地接受這福音，天天查考經文，要看這些事是否如此。這樣，他們當中有許多人相信了，包括尊貴的希臘婦女，以及不少男人。

並且我們有先知更確切的話語。你們如果留心這些話語，把它當做照耀在暗處的燈，一直到天光破曉、晨星在你們心中升起，你們就做得很好了。
