“ I wish you were like a brother to me. I wish my mother’s breasts had nursed you. Then if I found you outside, I could kiss you. No one would look down on me.

Oh, I wish you were my brother, who nursed at my mother’s breasts. Then I could kiss you no matter who was watching, and no one would criticize me.

Oh, how I wish you were my little brother, nursing at my mother’s breasts; if I saw you outside, I could kiss you– surely no one would despise me!

But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

And at that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God, and continued to speak about Him to all those who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

So that you may nurse and be satisfied with her comforting breasts, So that you may drink fully and be delighted with her bountiful breasts.”For this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; And you will be nursed, you will be carried on the hip and rocked back and forth on the knees.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him Immanuel.

I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord of armies.

For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Listen, daughter, look and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father’s house;Then the King will crave your beauty. Because He is your Lord, bow down to Him.

For the Lord has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.He has turned His attention to the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.

“ Behold, I am sending My messenger, and he will clear a way before Me. And the Lord, whom you are seeking, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of armies.

The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, And all those who despised you will bow down at the soles of your feet; And they will call you the city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Turning to the disciples, He said privately,“ Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see;for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things that you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things that you hear, and did not hear them.”

Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.And just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment,so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,

He then answered,“ Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”So they said to him,“ What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”He answered them,“ I told you already and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become His disciples too, do you?”They spoke abusively to him and said,“ You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where He is from.”The man answered and said to them,“ Well, here is the amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes!We know that God does not listen to sinners; but if someone is God fearing and does His will, He listens to him.Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind.If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.”They answered him,“ You were born entirely in sins, and yet you are teaching us?” So they put him out.Jesus heard that they had put him out, and upon finding him, He said,“ Do you believe in the Son of Man?”He answered by saying,“ And who is He, Sir, that I may believe in Him?”Jesus said to him,“ You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.”And he said,“ I believe, Lord.” And he worshiped Him.

Jesus, knowing that the Father had handed all things over to Him, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God,

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.

The officers answered,“ Never has a man spoken in this way!”The Pharisees then replied to them,“ You have not been led astray too, have you?Not one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed!”Nicodemus( the one who came to Him before, being one of them)* said to them,“ Our Law does not judge the person unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?”They answered and said to him,“ You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

“ Now I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before people, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God;

No one has ascended into heaven, except He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.

Now He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:

But Jesus said,“ Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a good deed for Me.For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the entire world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”

But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of His suffering death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings.For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,saying,“ I will proclaim Your name to My brothers, In the midst of the assembly I will sing Your praise.”And again,“ I will put My trust in Him.” And again,“ Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and take pride in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,

Beyond question, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.

You gave Me no kiss; but she has not stopped kissing My feet since the time I came in.You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume.For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little, loves little.”And He said to her,“ Your sins have been forgiven.”

“ May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is sweeter than wine.

For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels.

But whatever things were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss because of Christ.More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them mere rubbish, so that I may gain Christ,

But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”

Jesus said to them,“ If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I came forth from God and am here; for I have not even come on My own, but He sent Me.

But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

“ The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; but the one who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

And a poor widow came and put in two lepta coins, which amount to a quadrans.Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them,“ Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.”

And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,“ Now, Lord, You are letting Your bond servant depart in peace, According to Your word;For my eyes have seen Your salvation,Which You have prepared in the presence of all the peoples:A light for revelation for the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
