Then he said to Jacob,“ Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel, and as an adult he wrestled with God.Jacob struggled with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with him.

“ Rejoice, childless one, who did not give birth; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.“ Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep.For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will dispossess nations and inhabit the desolate cities.

“ Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call to him while he is near.Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.

I didn’t know what was happening to me. I felt like I was in a chariot with a nobleman.

Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel, the hair of your head like purple cloth— a king could be held captive in your tresses.

Just then Jesus met them and said,“ Greetings!” They came up, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who seeks him.

But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

I have not spoken in secret, somewhere in a land of darkness. I did not say to the descendants of Jacob: Seek me in a wasteland. I am the LORD, who speaks righteously, who declares what is right.

Jesus said to her,“ Mary.” Turning around, she said to him in Aramaic,“ Rabboni!”— which means“ Teacher.”“ Don’t cling to me,” Jesus told her,“ since I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one takes your crown.“ The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God— the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God— and my new name.
