我即興、遊於邑衢、遍行大道、求我夫子、求之不得、

我即興、游於邑中、徧行街衢大道、尋我心之所愛、尋而不得、

I will get up now and go about the city, through its streets and squares; I will search for the one my heart loves. So I looked for him but did not find him.

There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.

“ Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.

On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

“ Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more?Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations?Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?” Selah.Then I thought,“ I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”

Therefore he says,“ Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

There is no one who calls on your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities.

I rose up to open for my beloved. My hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh, on the handles of the lock.

“ That servant came, and told his lord these things. Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.Yahweh will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life.I will ask God, my rock,“ Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”

He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“ What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour?Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
