亞伯拉罕禱告上帝，上帝就將亞比米勒和他妻子、以及他的眾婢妾都醫好，她們便能生育了。因為為了亞伯拉罕妻子的緣故、永恆主曾經把亞比米勒家中所有的婦女都閉起子宮來、使她們不能生育。永恆主按先前所說的眷顧了撒拉；永恆主照所應許過的給撒拉作成。當亞伯拉罕年老的時候、撒拉懷了孕；到上帝所對他說到的時節就給亞伯拉罕生了一個兒子。亞伯拉罕給撒拉為他所生的兒子起名叫以撒。

上帝懷念着拉結，垂聽了她，就開她的子宮使她受孕。拉結懷孕生子，就說：『上帝把我的恥辱收拾掉了』；

雅各的怒氣就向拉結發作，說：『我哪能代替上帝做主呢？是他不使你有腹中的果子呀。』

以撒因為他妻子不能生育，就為她懇求永恆主；永恆主應允他的懇求，他的妻子利伯加就懷了孕。

飽足的必作傭人去求食；饑餓的不再饑餓；不能生育的生了七個兒子；多有兒女的反倒衰萎。
