女兒啊，現在不要害怕！你所說的一切，我都會為你做；我城中所有的人都知道你是個才德的女子。

看哪，兒女是耶和華所賜的繼業，腹中的胎兒就是賞報！

他使不能生育的女人安居家中，成為有兒女的快樂母親。哈利路亞！

我為了得這孩子而禱告，現在耶和華已經把我向他所求的賜給我了。

願耶和華從這年輕女子賜你後裔，使你的家像塔瑪爾給猶大所生的法勒斯的家那樣！」

亞伯拉罕向神禱告，神就治癒了亞比米勒，以及他的妻子和女僕們，使她們能生育了。原來耶和華因亞伯拉罕妻子撒拉的緣故，使亞比米勒家中所有的婦女都不能生育。耶和華照著他所說的眷顧了撒拉，照著他所應許的為撒拉成就了。撒拉懷了孕，到了神對亞伯拉罕說的那個所定時期，在亞伯拉罕年老的時候，為他生了一個兒子。亞伯拉罕給撒拉為他所生的兒子，起名為以撒。

神也記念拉結，聽允了她，使她能生育。拉結懷孕，生了一個兒子，就說：「神除去了我的羞辱。」

雅各的怒氣就向拉結發作，說：「我難道能代替神嗎？是他不讓你腹中有胎兒。」

以撒因妻子不能生育就為她向耶和華祈求。耶和華應允了他的祈求，他的妻子莉百加就懷了孕。

飽足的為食物受雇，飢餓的卻不再挨餓；不能懷孕的生了七個，兒子眾多的反倒衰頹。
