I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from his hometown. Today you are witnesses!”

我要用可靠的證人，烏利亞祭司和耶比利家的兒子撒迦利亞為我作證。」我親近女先知；她就懷孕生子，耶和華對我說：「給他起名叫瑪黑珥‧沙拉勒‧哈施‧罷斯；

迦南人和這地所有的居民聽見了就必圍困我們，把我們的名從地上除去。那時，你為你至大的名要怎樣做呢？」

婚姻，人人都當尊重，共眠的床也不可污穢，因為淫亂和通姦的人，上帝必審判。

才德的婦人誰能得着呢？她的價值遠勝過寶石。她丈夫心裏信賴她，必不缺少利益；

房屋錢財是祖宗所遺留的；惟有賢慧的妻是耶和華所賜的。

你們還說：「這是為甚麼呢？」因為耶和華在你和你年輕時所娶的妻之間作證。她雖是你的配偶，你誓約的妻，你卻背棄她。

從前雅各逃到亞蘭地，以色列為娶妻子工作，為娶妻子而牧放。

你的後裔必多如海沙，你腹中所生的必多如沙粒。他的名絕不從我面前剪除，也不滅絕。」

願這些罪常在耶和華面前！願他們的名字從地上除滅！

萬軍之耶和華說：「在那日，我要從地上除滅偶像的名，使它不再被記得；我也必使這地不再有先知，不再有污穢的靈。
