You have been working with the women who work for Boaz. He’s a relative of ours. Tonight he’ll be separating the straw from his barley on the threshing floor.

Is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.

Boaz is a close relative of ours, and he’s been very kind by letting you gather grain with his young women. Tonight he will be winnowing barley at the threshing floor.

Then Boaz said to Ruth,“ Listen, my daughter. Don’t go to glean in another field, and don’t go from here, but stay here close to my maidens.

If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger. Her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.It shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.If the man doesn’t want to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say,“ My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel. He will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.”Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him. If he stands and says,“ I don’t want to take her,”then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his sandal from off his foot, and spit in his face. She shall answer and say,“ So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.”His name shall be called in Israel,“ The house of him who had his sandal removed.”

Naomi said to her daughter- in- law,“ May he be blessed by Yahweh, who has not abandoned his kindness to the living and to the dead.” Naomi said to her,“ The man is a close relative to us, one of our near kinsmen.”Ruth the Moabitess said,“ Yes, he said to me,‘ You shall stay close to my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’”Naomi said to Ruth her daughter- in- law,“ It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maidens, and that they not meet you in any other field.”So she stayed close to the maidens of Boaz, to glean to the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and she lived with her mother- in- law.

Naomi had a relative of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.

For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,saying,“ I will declare your name to my brothers.
