Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.

You have been working with the women who work for Boaz. He’s a relative of ours. Tonight he’ll be separating the straw from his barley on the threshing floor.

Is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.

Now isn’t Boaz our relative? Haven’t you been working with his female servants? This evening he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.

Now then, is Boaz not our relative, with whose young women you were? Behold, he is winnowing barley at the threshing floor tonight.

Now Boaz, whose young women you were with, is he not our relative? In fact, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.

And now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to- night in the threshing- floor.

Now isn’t Boaz our relative? Haven’t you been working with his female servants? This evening he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.

Now Boaz, with whose female servants you worked, is our close relative. Look, tonight he is winnowing barley at the threshing floor.

Now isn’t Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he will be winnowing barley tonight on the threshing floor.

Boaz went over and said to Ruth,“ Listen, my daughter. Stay right here with us when you gather grain; don’t go to any other fields. Stay right behind the young women working in my field.

“ If two brothers are living together on the same property and one of them dies without a son, his widow may not be married to anyone from outside the family. Instead, her husband’s brother should marry her and have intercourse with her to fulfill the duties of a brother in law.The first son she bears to him will be considered the son of the dead brother, so that his name will not be forgotten in Israel.“ But if the man refuses to marry his brother’s widow, she must go to the town gate and say to the elders assembled there,‘ My husband’s brother refuses to preserve his brother’s name in Israel— he refuses to fulfill the duties of a brother in law by marrying me.’The elders of the town will then summon him and talk with him. If he still refuses and says,‘ I don’t want to marry her,’the widow must walk over to him in the presence of the elders, pull his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. Then she must declare,‘ This is what happens to a man who refuses to provide his brother with children.’Ever afterward in Israel his family will be referred to as‘ the family of the man whose sandal was pulled off’!

“ May the Lord bless him!” Naomi told her daughter in law.“ He is showing his kindness to us as well as to your dead husband. That man is one of our closest relatives, one of our family redeemers.”Then Ruth said,“ What’s more, Boaz even told me to come back and stay with his harvesters until the entire harvest is completed.”“ Good!” Naomi exclaimed.“ Do as he said, my daughter. Stay with his young women right through the whole harvest. You might be harassed in other fields, but you’ll be safe with him.”So Ruth worked alongside the women in Boaz’s fields and gathered grain with them until the end of the barley harvest. Then she continued working with them through the wheat harvest in early summer. And all the while she lived with her mother in law.

Now there was a wealthy and influential man in Bethlehem named Boaz, who was a relative of Naomi’s husband, Elimelech.

So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.For he said to God,“ I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”He also said,“ I will put my trust in him,” that is,“ I and the children God has given me.”Because God’s children are human beings— made of flesh and blood— the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.
