大衛年間有饑荒，一連三年，大衛就求問耶和華。耶和華說：「這饑荒是因掃羅和他流人血之家殺死基遍人。」

你頭上的天要變為銅，腳下的地要變為鐵。耶和華要使那降在你地上的雨變為塵沙，從天臨在你身上，直到你滅亡。

耶和華興起士師，士師就拯救他們脫離搶奪他們人的手。他們卻不聽從士師，竟隨從叩拜別神，行了邪淫，速速地偏離他們列祖所行的道，不如他們列祖順從耶和華的命令。耶和華為他們興起士師，就與那士師同在。士師在世的一切日子，耶和華拯救他們脫離仇敵的手。他們因受欺壓擾害，就哀聲歎氣，所以耶和華後悔了。

糧食不是在我們眼前斷絕了嗎？歡喜快樂不是從我們神的殿中止息了嗎？穀種在土塊下朽爛；倉也荒涼，廩也破壞；因為五穀枯乾了。牲畜哀鳴；牛羣混亂，因為無草；羊羣也受了困苦。耶和華啊，我向你求告，因為火燒滅曠野的草場；火焰燒盡田野的樹木。田野的走獸向你發喘；因為溪水乾涸，火也燒滅曠野的草場。

田荒涼，地悲哀；因為五穀毀壞，新酒乾竭，油也缺乏。農夫啊，你們要慚愧；修理葡萄園的啊，你們要哀號；因為大麥小麥與田間的莊稼都滅絕了。

你帶到田間的種子雖多，收進來的卻少，因為被蝗蟲吃了。

我使你們在一切城中牙齒乾淨，在你們各處糧食缺乏，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

基列寄居的提斯比人以利亞對亞哈說：「我指着所事奉永生耶和華－以色列的神起誓，這幾年我若不禱告，必不降露，不下雨。」耶和華的話臨到以利亞說：「你離開這裏往東去，藏在約旦河東邊的基立溪旁。你要喝那溪裏的水，我已吩咐烏鴉在那裏供養你。」於是以利亞照着耶和華的話，去住在約旦河東的基立溪旁。烏鴉早晚給他叼餅和肉來，他也喝那溪裏的水。過了些日子，溪水就乾了，因為雨沒有下在地上。耶和華的話臨到他說：「你起身往西頓的撒勒法去，住在那裏；我已吩咐那裏的一個寡婦供養你。」以利亞就起身往撒勒法去。到了城門，見有一個寡婦在那裏撿柴，以利亞呼叫她說：「求你用器皿取點水來給我喝。」她去取水的時候，以利亞又呼叫她說：「也求你拿點餅來給我！」她說：「我指着永生耶和華－你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裏只有一點油；我現在找兩根柴，回家要為我和我兒子做餅；我們吃了，死就死吧！」

當以色列中沒有王的時候，有住以法蓮山地那邊的一個利未人，娶了一個猶大伯利恆的女子為妾。妾行淫離開丈夫，回猶大的伯利恆，到了父家，在那裏住了四個月。

主耶和華如此說：「我將這四樣大災－就是刀劍、饑荒、惡獸、瘟疫降在耶路撒冷，將人與牲畜從其中剪除，豈不更重嗎？

使肥地變為鹼地；這都因其間居民的罪惡。

我必斷絕你們因勢力而有的驕傲，又要使覆你們的天如鐵，載你們的地如銅。
