Not everyone in Abraham’s family line is really his child. Not at all! Scripture says,“ Your family line will continue through Isaac.”( Genesis 21:12)

也不因为是亚伯拉罕的后裔就都作他的儿女；惟独“从以撒生的才要称为你的后裔。”

亚伯拉罕的后裔不一定都是亚伯拉罕的儿女，圣经上说：“以撒生的才可算为你的后裔。”

也不因为他们是亚伯拉罕的后裔，就都成为他的儿女，只有“以撒生的，才可以称为你的后裔”，

也不因为是亚伯拉罕的后裔，就都是他的儿女；只有“从以撒生的，才会被称为你的后裔。”

亞伯拉罕的後裔不一定都是亞伯拉罕的兒女，聖經上說：「以撒生的才可算為你的後裔。」

也不是因他們做亞伯拉罕的後裔、就都是真「兒女」，乃是『本於以撒的、才要叫做你的後裔』。

也不因為是亞伯拉罕的後裔，就都是他的兒女；只有「從以撒生的，才會被稱為你的後裔。」

亦非因其為亞伯拉罕之裔、遂盡為子、經云、由於以撒者、乃謂爾裔也、

為亞伯拉罕裔者、不得盡為嗣子、經云、惟出自以撒者、得謂爾裔焉、

亦非因係亞伯拉罕之裔、皆得為子、經載主云、惟由以撒而生者、方可稱為爾裔、

而亞伯漢之苗裔、亦非必盡為其子女。經云：『惟依灑格所生、乃得稱為汝裔。』

Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary,“ It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”

and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but“ Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”

Being descendants of Abraham doesn’t make them truly Abraham’s children. For the Scriptures say,“ Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted,” though Abraham had other children, too.

Neither is it the case that all of Abraham’s children are his descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac.

nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but:“ through Isaac your descendants shall be named.”

nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but,“ In Isaac your seed shall be called.”

neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Neither are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac.

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham,[ are they] all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather“ through Isaac will your descendants be counted.”

Neither, because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. But,“ your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac.”

But God said to Abraham,“ Do not be so upset about the boy and your slave Hagar. Listen to what Sarah tells you, because your family line will continue through Isaac.

God had said to him,“ Your family line will continue through Isaac.”( Genesis 21:12) Even so, Abraham was going to offer him up.

I know that you are Abraham’s children. But you are looking for a way to kill me. You have no room for my word.I am telling you what I saw when I was with my Father. You are doing what you have heard from your father.”“ Abraham is our father,” they answered. Jesus said,“ Are you really Abraham’s children? If you are, you will do what Abraham did.

But we have been truly circumcised. We serve God by the power of his Spirit. We boast about what Christ Jesus has done. We don’t put our trust in who we are or what we can do.

Live in a way that shows you have turned away from your sins. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ Abraham is our father.’ I tell you, God can raise up children for Abraham even from these stones.

Abraham’s son by the slave woman was born in the usual way. But his son by the free woman was born because of God’s promise.

“‘ No, father Abraham,’ he said.‘ But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will turn away from their sins.’

So the rich man called out,‘ Father Abraham! Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water. Then he can cool my tongue with it. I am in terrible pain in this fire.’“ But Abraham replied,‘ Son, remember what happened in your lifetime. You received your good things. Lazarus received bad things. Now he is comforted here, and you are in terrible pain.

They answered him,“ We are Abraham’s children. We have never been slaves of anyone. So how can you say that we will be set free?”
